Enjoy being in your bubble. You said ‘Around other Brits’. Well, we are a community of Brits, Irish, Swedish, German, Dutch, Belgian & Spanish, so you have got that wrong. I like Spain because they accept us all, and generally welcome us, but without changing their ways to please immigrants. That is as it should be. I am very happy to have neighbours from many different countries, and living in a community has plenty of pluses. So you stick to your narrow view, but please don’t pass judgement on president’s fees when you know nothing about it.

Bang out of order in my opinion. A president’s position is a big responsibility, requiring time and commitment. If this was a paid job, the cost of community fees would hardly scratch the surface. Good on you Sheila 64.

I have lived in a community for 15 years (a block of apartments) and have a stress-free life.   It was particularly stress-free after I lost my husband as I felt, and still feel, much safer and easier in my mind than I would if I had the hassle of looking after a home where I had to see to repairs, garden, pool, etc.   Also, I don't just live in a community of Brits as we have owners and tenants from all four countries of the UK as well as Spanish, South American, Norwegian, Icelandic, Indian, Irish, Moroccan and Dutch - a veritable cornucopia of nationalities.   If you don't want to mix too much just keep your front door closed!

To be a President of a community of various nationalities with different requirements and expectations.....no thanks, not for any money.

Thank you, Michael. People with holiday homes, particularly at the moment, must like to know that the complex is being looked after. Many homes are empty for months and because I live here I am able to keep an eye out for any problems. Also, without me watching over the pool, it would have to be closed, as we could not afford to pay for this service. I enjoy it , and it keeps me out of mischief!
On a lighter note, it’s FA Cup Final day. My brother is a devoted Chelsea fan, so I will be cheering them on. Happy Days 😎
