Best advice is visit for a couple of weeks, rent a licensed holiday let, have a good look around and speak to residents and second home owners.
La Marina is in two parts, the original small town by the sand dunes and beaches and the newer urbanisation about 5 minutes drive inland.
A lot will depend also on the time of year you intend to stay the most, things are quieter out of season. Will you always have a hire car? Lots of personal considerations.
I noticed you used the term 'invest'; if you are looking to rent the property out as a holiday let then you need a property that can obtain a Tourist License (or already has one). I have heard of there being a few problems with people unable to get the necessary permission to apply for one in some parts of La Marina.
Don't rush into anything. Take your time as buying and selling in Spain is expensive, so you need to be sure about your chosen location.

As Davebev1 says there are two places called La Marina. The town, on the beach side of the N332, comes under the jurisdiction of Elche, but the urbanisation of the same name, on the inland side of the N332 road, comes under the jurisdiction of San Fulgencio.
