I have received a letter today and inside was a form Modelo 990, I have been told its a fine for having work done on my home. Does anyone know do you need a licence to have the house painted and had 6 tiles replaced at the front gate? Thanks for any information. Alan.

Hello Ray,

Thanks for getting back to me, I will have to get someone to translate the letter for me. I was just stumped why I should be fined for just having the house painted and the tiles replaced. All the alterations I had done was 18 years ago and I have all the correct paperwork for what I had done. Thanks again Alan.

It's easy to translate paperwork like this yourself:

If u have an iPhone (or you know someone who has) just go to Google translate and press the camera icon, take a photo and use your finger to highlight the text you want (whole form is ok) and follow the directions and it will translate whatever you want. I use it for packet food and other items in Spain to follow the directions ..it's brilliant. There are YouTube tutorials if you Google it, but it is quite simple.

Jan

Ps You can also Google this " how to use a camera on google translate youtube tutorial"  - There are a few tutorials and instructions.

Hello Jan,

Thank you for replying to my question, I don’t have a iPhone but do have a ipad and I tried to read the form using the Google translate but couldn’t get it to work also I have it on my Samsung phone and same result. I will have a look at YouTube.

Thanks again.

Alan.

Hello Jan,

I have managed to get the translator to work following your instructions, I still cannot see exactly what I’m being fined for and the only thing it might be is for a wooden shed that my wife purchased last year for her card making. Its a fairly large shed which is on our roof terrace. I will do as Ray advised and pay the 60e at the bank.

Thank you both for the help given. Its much appreciated. Alan.

Hello Ray,

Thanks for the link, I have also found out why I received Modelo 990. My neighbour received one the other day and he took his to his Solicitor who told him that they are re-assessing work that had been done previously and the charge is for them doing the assessing. He was also told that everyone will get one at some time.If people don’t pay the 60e then they will look into it further and the price will be a lot more.

Regards Alan.

P.s. It must be paid within 15 days of receiving the letter
