Hi Folks

well the time has nearly arrived and we get the keys to our new home in Marina Del Mar 1 on Wednesday 5th February 2020.

1.Sabadell appointment on Tuesday 8.30am.

2. Notary appointment directly after that to sort everything out with finances and transfer of the car.

3. We are looking to come out for a week every one to two months, are we better looking at a yearly Airport pass or not??

4. Are we missing anything, Spanish wills etc???

Any help is appreciated as first time buying in Spain but to this point the Estate Agent, Bank and Notary have been very helpful.

Hi Mark and Jackie,

May I add my congratulations on finding your own Place in the Sun and wish you all the best . Next Wednesday is going to be a very exciting and important day for you.

Lots of good advice given so far .If not already sorted , I could add the importance of House Insurance . In addition it would be wise to sign up for 'on line 'access to your utility company accounts whereby you can also keep track of things whilst out of Spain.

Good Luck.

Hello Mark, and congratulations!

We too have a house on La Marina Urb - had it for 4 yrs. and we love it!

We come over every 3 or 4 weeks for 10-12 days st a time, and have the “best of both worlds” 😊 . However, we do spent 6 or 7 weeks here in the Summer, when all our children and grandchildren join us for some wonderful, quality family time and “fun in the sun”. We are also here for the new year, usually for 3 weeks - some great Fiestas around at this time, especially 3 Kings/Epiphany

We book/plan our flights as soon as they become available and find that this allows some efficient purchasing - average return flights cost for flights booked up to Sept between €45-€60 each. This is definitely the best way to book cheap flights

All our clothes and “stuff” are kept in Spain, so we have very little hand luggage.

We too (like Grahame) have our own car that we keep at the airport on a “Meet & Greet” basis - costs are currently €280/year

We continue to enjoy coming over as frequently as we do, and I reckon the frequency/length of our time in Spain should still be ok as-and-when the Brexit scenario comes into effect on 1st Jan 2021

I really hope you enjoy your “Place in the Sun” as much as we enjoy ours

Take care

Hi Ian

thanks for that, do I need a cover for the car to protect the Paintwork as I will not be over as frequent as yourself.

Hi Mark

I don’t cover my vehicle at the airport parking - most of my airport parking takes place between October and June when, perhaps, the sun isn’t so intense. However, we do have off-road shaded parking at our house.

You can purchase covered parking with one of the airport parking guys as an extra-over cost - but as I said, I don’t.

Enjoy Espana!!
