Hello. My wife and I are seriously considering moving to the fringes of the valley in la romana. May seem a ridiculous question but any help would be appreciated.

Weather.  Is it in the 40s in summer and freezing in the winter? I've read varied reports

Is there much to do there?

How far from the coast? Again   varied distances.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Steve

Hi, we have lived just outside La Romana in Los Batistes for 3 years and we love it. The only drawback here though is that we have dog kennels opposite us and another just further up the hill and they can be very noisy especially at night so be careful to do your research as estate agents won't tell you about it. They also know when the quiet time is to take you to view a property. As for la Romana itself it's fairly quiet but you can find things to do in the area. There's walking and cycling groups, yoga, language groups, and there's a drama group in Frailes plus arts and crafts so plenty to do if you look around. There's a good amount of bars and restaurants in the village and nearby towns and villages but if it's night life your after it's pretty much none existent apart from fiesta time which is fantastic. You can drive to the coast in about half an hour. Hope this helps. Jackie

Thank you so much for replying.  We're both retired so clubbing? Maybe years ago lol.

Really appreciate it

Hi

We moved here 2 years ago, from the coast.  More peaceful here.

We find the winters cold, but we do live quite high up a mountain, so seem to be more exposed and the house mainly faces north, so make sure you have some form of good heating.  However facing north means the house is lovely and cool in the summer.  The summers are lovely, yes can be hot, but forget about that humidity they get on the coast, we get a lovely cool breeze from the east which keeps that away.

Regards  Jackie

Thank you all for your responses.  It helps a lot.

We're interested in a property on the " flat" part of the valley 5 minutes from two villages,   gravel drive ,surrounded by grape fields covered in netting and olive groves. Just wondering if anyone had any idea what it's like living on that part. RIEGA water to the property ( please excuse the spelling).

Thanks Steve
