Could you not get an insulated cover from Ebay or Amazon delivered from the UK rather than a new tank? I assume it would need to be waterproof if its for external use

Hi Snoxell,  I have just purchased one from << https://www.bes.co.uk >> Many of my paid orders on Ebay and Amazon never arrive in Spain.  Many thanks

Hi Sligogent

My one does NOT have an insulated jacket.  It hangs outside and rapidly loses heat.

Hi,  Thanks for your help.  I just purchased one online from << https://www.bes.co.uk >>

Hello, A quick reply. Lots on ebay for you to look at. One item 230689471824 Hot water jacket £24, £11 postage,(Spain)  bit of import duty. You will find cheaper options. Also, you could find a thick coat with a hood in a charity shop, as mentioned wrap it and tie around your boiler. You c...

As per the above, the insulation is like an expanding foam, if the boiler is hot, you can check by feeling around the hot outlet at the bottom, but the outside is relatively cool your insulation is good to go.  Any hot spots then the insulation is old and crumbling inside.

Hi Dave

Thank you for your reply.  My almost one year old hot water boiler tank hangs outside.
I bought it from Leroy Merlin.  BES << https://www.bes.co.uk >> have just confirmed that will ship a paid order to me in Spain.

If you only bought it a year ago then it's an unvented cylinder. I would suspect insulating it will make no difference. Its not that you are having heat loss, but you are using the water and it's topped up with cold, thereby the water will go cold. 80 litres is a small boiler. A shower takes around 6 litres per minute, more if you have a rainfall shower head. Just over 10 minutes your water is gone.

Hi Dave,  Thank you for the information.  I am almost at the top of a hilly area with constant wind.  My water heater cylinder hangs outside and last year and earlier this year it rapidly lost heat even after a quick 7minute turbo splash shower.  My shower head is very small.

When  boiler  is  heating  water 💧   red  light   is  on. So  water will  be cold. When red light  is  off  water  is  Hot, if  using   kitchen sink  or  shower  cold water enters  the Boiler  and  red  light  comes on  immediately. Depending  on  how much  Hot 🔥   water  you  use  will  depend  on how  long  red light stays on. But in  my  boiler  maximum  30 minutes  after a  person  is finished  red light  is  off. When  Red light is off  Boiler  is  not  using  any  Electricity . So  I  don't  understand  why  some people  switch  Boiler  on and off. As  when Boiler  is off  for a Long water get cold and takes longer  to heat   water and uses more electricity.

That  is  my  understanding  of how  Electrical  Water heater  works  in Spain 🇪🇸. Maybe I  might be  wrong  but I will  take  convincing 😀

You are more or less correct. When the light is illuminated it is heating the cold water around the element and thermostat at the bottom. There could still be hot/warm water from around ½ way up. Hot water is drawn from the top and filled with cold from the bottom. But it does depend on how much water you use and if the water heater is smaller it uses water quicker and needs heating up more. It takes less time but more often. You will get some heat loss but that will depend on the quality of the water heater. Also if its stood for a while the calcium in the water will coat the element and will not heat as quick. I moved recently and just before I moved I replaced the element and ½ a bucket of calcium from inside the heater.
