As others have said avoid being close to Cabo Roig Strip, full of tourists with lots of Bars and Clubs some of which don't get going until after midnight and go on to the early hours and then you have the noise when it's home time. Away from the Strip there are great areas in and round Cabo Roig or I would recommend La Zenia, close enough to the Bars and Restaurants for walking but away from the noise and close to one of the best beaches on the Costa with other smaller quieter beaches also closeby.

Many thanks for your reply.  It seems as if La Zenia is more appealing. I am not a fuddy duddy but if you live somewhere then you don't want nightlife on your doorstep.  We will have our car anyway so travelling is not a problem.  Somebody suggested Nerja but we stayed there for a fortnight and it was dead as a dodo.  A very long walk to get to the beach down a very long hill and that meant a very long way back up.  As I cannot walk uphill because of lung problems that was out.  I really am finding it very scary as once you buy something you are stuck really with the ten percent on top to the Government (this is not to be sniffed at).  It is so difficult to know what the areas are like unless you go there and we have tried three visits now and have been unsuccessful.  My husband was tempted to give up but thankfully we are now in the middle of horrendous weather again.  We had hailstones in the morning (June 10th would you believe it) and it is the third day of non stop rain.  It is also only 13 degrees so the central heating is on.  A simple thing like walking the dog becomes very very unpleasant so I am determined to keep on trying.   Thanks again for your answer.

Kind regards

Christine (and Steven)

Hi.    Spent 6 weeks near the bushwaka bar.   Extremely noisy and couldn’t live there. Not there in the summer months, so was lively (to put it mildly) only weekends.   It must be horrendous during summer months when it has live music until early hours on the strip somewhere nightly.    However have stayed aquamarina area.  It’s on the same side of the road i.e. beach side of Cabo roig but behind the strip.   This area is all on the flat.  The lovely beach is 10 minutes top walk one way,   The strip same other way.  Easy walk to medical centre, supermarkets etc.    When you get there, make your way to the bushwaka bar, walk down towards the beach and you will see what I mean.   Also look other side of the main road.   Urbanisation there have nice houses and you are still walking distance to everything but far away for quiet evenings.  Friends live here, in their late 60, and are very happy with their choice.    Good luck.      Rent first though

Hi

We bought in las filipinas last year on bosque de las lomas 1. We love it. Its quiet  Very secure nice pool very clean and only 10 minutes walk max to all bars and restaurants. You need a car to get to the beach though its 10 minutes in the car. You can also walk to villamartin plaza where there's 2 floors of bars and nice restaurants. Supermarkets 10 minutes walk or 2 minutes in the car. La fuente plaza is only 10 minutes walk as well. All in all your only 10 to 15 minutes away from everything either walking or in the car. Nice area and were very happy there.

Hi, thank you very much. It does sound like an area that would suit us.  Don't really want the added expense of having a car as will only be able to be there half the year. What is public transport like in the area?  Thanks once again x

There is a bus that goes to playa flamenca through cabo roig and la zenia but I don't know how frequent they are as I never use it with having the car. Always taxis as well as a 1 off if you need to get some where. Lomas de cabo roig is only 5 minutes in a taxi and some nice bars there and a couple of restaurants. If you like socialising there's numerous places to go within walking distance.
