Hi Graeme,

It wasn’t a question about Spain’s general attitude to foreigners but rather whether anyone (nationals or expats) in the country would be reluctant/weary about opening up the borders with a worry of tourists bringing the virus back again and therefore against seeing this happen initially?

As someone who purchased a holiday home in 2018 for ourselves and family use, is there any feeling that foreigners may not at least initially be welcome when the borders are open?

I think you will be welcomed open armed by the vast majority of Spanish nationals, apart from being vital to regenerating the economy I find generally like most country’s the Spanish to be friendly, but again like most countries there will be a small group who will be looking to blame someone for the virus and that generally I suspecwill be foreigners of some description unfortunately

I'm waiting for that news too. I've lived in Western Australia for 20yrs but have had my little house in spain since april 2016. I was due to move there permanently at the end of this month. But my flights 28th April were cancelled. Being in Spain will put me much closer to uk friends and family....

... And i love Spain and already have some very special friends there. I cant wait to move there but their borders have to be open and i have to be able to fly out of Oz. One worry is that i wont be able to get my residencia before December and the brexit implications. And i need the Padron to be able to bring my furniture and personal effects into Spain. So its all very nerve wracking. If anyone knows anything helpful I'd be very grateful. Stay safe everybody x

Sue, you don’t need the padrón to bring stuff in from Aus.  My shipment landed last week before I got my padrón certificate

Hi there. Thats interesting. Pickfords are going to be transporting my effects from Oz to Spain and their paperwork says i must have the padron for them to be accepted into Spain ??? Looks like I'd better check what the up to date facts are. I have my NIE and paid non resident tax last year. Thanks for the info. At least i know i definitely need to double check their info. Actually have just realized i should be double checking everything. Mind i wonder if movement from uk to Spain would be classed differently to Oz to Spain. Suppose its a possibility with the EU effect ? Will definitely be double checking. Stay safe x

That’s ok!  Yes the shipment arrived into Rotterdam last week ... hoping I’ll get it the end of next week. At least I’ll have boxes to unpack & keep me occupied lol

Like most people here I've got everything crossed for access to my Spanish place in the sun in July, I've just seen the UK coronavirus daily update that Oxford university is starting human trials on a vaccine on Thursday, the UK government has said that they will throw everything at it, finger crossed this vaccine works.

For info, there's a second vaccine that has been developed in London but isn't ready for trials yet.
