Hi everyone I live 3k from nearest Town . My water supply for general use " showering / laundry / washing dishes is Agricultural water . We use bottled water for drinks and cooking .The water is stored in a large tank aprox 2000 ltres it passes thro 2 filters 1 micro and 5 micro before entering the tank .It is then drawn from the tank to the house by an on demand pump passing thro 4 more filters on the way .The water coming from the main is fairly clear but has a smell about it .chlorine tablets normally  eliminate the smell " replaced by a smell of chlorine if to much added. "  Currently the water is turning yellow when passing thro the chlorine .

any suggestions of how to cure this problem would be greatly appreciated

Seastreaker.

I'm sure others with actual experience will come up with better suggestions, but I suggest you look at the price difference between what you're paying for irrigation water and what you would pay for drinking water - agua potable. That shouldn't need any treatment and you could at least use it for cooking.

Also, use a pool test kit to check the chlorine level of the water you're treating now, to see if your system is dosing it correctly.

In this area at least there are suppliers of agua potable. I can't remember the price, but I think a friend pays €85 for ten cubic metres.
