Hi Weedster,

That premium seems reasonable, compared to mine.  For a 3-bed, 3-bath, detached house with private pool, our July renewal with Liberty Seguros, through Jennifer Cunningham Insurance Agents, was €359.50, for the following cover:

Buildings €212,175 / Contents €51,750 / Jewellery €5,000 / Pool and gardens €50,000 / General Liability €300,000

Also included is All Risks Accidental Damage for both building and contents, plus Home/Emergency/DIY Assistance and Legal Defence and IT Support.

I've yet to find an independent insurance broker in Spain - rather, they are agents representing typically just one insurance company, so you'll need to phone around for alternative quotes.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Kim

Obviously I will look into it nearer the time, we are on quite a well established community so I feel we need just basic cover, I'm going to try intasure to see how they compare nearer the time, but they may be more specialised to holiday homes? We'll see then. Also see what Sabadell quote, along with a few more maybe.

Thanks again for your help

Tony

*Also posted in La Marina forum by mistake sorry*

Hello All

We opened a Sabadell account in order to purchase in Spain about a year ago and it did not go smoothly.(charges left, right and centre for all sorts of spurious things) we are non resident.

Anyway we got through it and had to purchase their insurance to try and avoid other charges which I can't remember now(it was not the removal of the 40 euro per quarter charge, which we still pay). We have a Wise account and today Sabadell will not recognise the IBAN when I try to transfer money to Wise from my Sabadell account! It seems the Belgian bit is not liked?

So I am in the situation where I cannot transfer any money from my Sabadell account. I have sent them an email and called them but don't feel as if I am getting anywhere. We are due in Spain next week and I am wondering how easy it will be to transfer my direct debits for electric, water, communal fees, IB(SUMA) etc to Wise, and also how to go about closing my Sabadell account.eg. the best way to get my account to zero?

Any help appreciated

Go to the sabbadel bank with your info to your wise account they will transfer it in the bank

Try a starling account. We did it last year and was annoyed we had not done it sooner. Sabadell has 10 years of fees from us!

Hello

I've checked our insurance and it is annual renewable at 239 euros for our first year. They say I must inform them at least 1 month prior to renewal date if I do not wish to renew it.

Does this price sound ok?

Our house insured sum is 120000 euros, 20,000 for furniture, 2,000 jewels, 12,000 gardens.

Are there any good insurance providers that would provide a cheaper quote?

Obviously I don't know what the renewal quote is yet, but you think they'd let me know and not just renew with a hugely different premium?

Try a starling account. We did it last year and was annoyed we had not done it sooner. Sabadell has 10 years of fees from us! Go to the insurance brokers on the shopping centre near pets world. We used to go through our bank! Half price here!

Sounds good, we'll be there this week. I think our Wise account will do and we'll see how the insurance compares.

Thanks all

Talking of Home insurance

Has anybody had experience of dealing with Plusultra Insurance at all? I have had to make a claim and they are just ducking and diving to refute the claim firstly by saying that we left a widow open so the rain water got in - only thing there isn't a window anywhere near where the water came in the cause was a crack in the solarium floor tile!

Then they talk about stations and threshold limits of 40 litres per hour not been exceeded.

Total gibberish well it is to me

Regards

I've just read elsewhere on this forum of someone having issues with Starling as it has a GB IBAN code, so many Spanish companies won't take DD transfers from them

Whilst not a broker, look at

www.Rastreator.com

A comparison site, it will give you a good idea of prices for different options. You might not want to use one of the quotes but they can be a useful bargaining tool.

I’ve not had any problems.   I have mine set up for esta, water, electric, broadband, insurance. The only one that cannot arrange is community fees.
