Hi everyone

I purchased a property in Orihuela back in October 2018.  I paid tax on the purchase price and I have not received any income on the property ( meaning I haven’t rented it out)

Do I need to do a tax return for the spanish government every year and if I do how do I do it?  I have a spanish bank account.

Any advice gratefully received.

You have to pay tax or at least declare your income, what you pay depends on your status in Spain. As a non-resident you have to pay Non- Resident Tax, in December 2019 you should pay that Tax from the date of your property purchase to 31/12/2018. If you are Resident and have Residencia then you should be declaring an Annual Tax Return for 2018. Best advice is to read Jim Taylor's superb guides to Living In Spain, they can be found by clicking on the Announcements Tab on the Forum Homepage.

Just to clarify, if you're non-resident, or resident and only became so in the second half of 2018, you need to do a non-resident return for 2018. This can be done at any time before the end of 2019.

It's a complicated return to do yourself if it's the first one, so:
