I am booked on a flight to return to the UK on 1st March. I am okay to comply with the negative Covid test required on arrival but if it is required to quarantine in a hotel for 10 days at own expense as well, this will be unaffordable. Surely a negative test result provided by UK nationals from ...

...Spain should suffice for isolating in one's own home? Any thoughts on this anyone?

If travelling from spain to uk you dont need to quarantine in hotel (yet) spain not on the "red" list, only portugal!

I’m sorry Elaine but governments all over the world right now affect every other country . If, as it is clear today The U.K. govt is setting up to Fail yet again ,it will actually effect Spain. Mamby pamby yet again.     Nicola Sturgeon is doing what the U.K. Should have done at the start. They are worried now that people heading for Scotland will enter via England as they are “the open Back door “ and not need to hotel quarantine !   Why is it a government can’t simply announce , we know who you are and we will fine you £10,000 per person if you try that.  They move so slowly, i’m fed up shouting at the telly lol.  So, all things that happen everywhere effect everyone.

Hi, I checked and can't see Spain on the list of 33 countries this applies too. Check gov.uk site and Spain travel or covid quarantine

Check gov.scot, or google "hotel quarantine scotland". If you're not arriving in Scotland, you are fine for home quarantine because, as you rightly say, Spain is not on the red list - yet. Red lists don't matter to Sturgeon, though!

Your right John, very easy to say that everyone should quarantine but not so easy to do in practice. Okay for NS to say as there are very few international travellers arriving in Scotland compared to England. I think the approach of vaccinating the high risk sectors of the population as quickly as possible is the better option.

I don't see how the Australian model of stopping people entering the country (including Australians) would work in Europe, too many inter-country travellers.

Aitch.

Aye but recognise that this is highly political. The tail....wee Nicoliar wagging the UK dog. International flights into Scotland are square root of FA. Easy to implement quarantine there.

Quite right John. Sturgeon is not doing a single thing better than RUK but she does talk a good game.
