Hi,I just been online to verify what my neighbour was telling me that as from 2022 you will need an annual income of 25,560 euros and an extra 6,390 for each additional family member a grand total of 31,950 euros.I can only say that for the last 35 years of having a villa in Spain and Spanish Ban...

...k account for as long, I’ve never been asked to deposit what the bank wants.I have always only had enough in my Spanish account to pay my direct debits, luckily I lost no money when the Cam Bank went bust unfortunately not the same for a lot of others. When you consider that a state pension in the U.K. only comes to around £9,350 per year there is something very suspicious about all of this.

Sounds like they don't want retirees in the future in Spain. Luckily I'm already here, it is strange though as pensioners are normally win win for Spain of they don't use public health service (which I don't).

I think you'll find that's to apply for residency.

Don't worry. Retirees will still be welcome in Spain on the 90 day ruling as non residents. As you are already resident you don't need what's being pointed out. You will still be entitled to UK funded healthcare and if its removed, it will be the UK government that removes the entitlement, not Spain. Spain currently reclaims your healthcare from the UK. Due to the UK removing themselves from the EU any new residency applications will have to provide a greater level of monetary independence to ensure they are not a burden on the Spanish system.

Spain are not the bad boys in all this. Some people just want their cake and eat it.

Bruceyboy. As a second home owner. You again are quite welcome to come to your second home on the 90 day ruling applied to all 3rd countries. You won't need to deposit tens of thousands of pounds in your account to do this. If you want to stay longer, I believe you can apply for a visa. If you want to apply for residency then you will have to show you are self sufficient.....

If you read my earlier post, the steps above are exactly the same as many other countries. Australia for example. You cant stay for longer than 3 months. If you want to do so, you have to apply for a visa and satisfy certain criteria. If you want to TRY for residency, then you have to place a much larger sum into a bank account.  SOUND FAMILIAR?

It is unbelievable, but because Spain is so dependent on the EU they will have to do all their bidding.Over the years Spain invited and welcomed all the English crooks, murders, bank robbers, anyone that was being persuaded by the police into their country. The Brinks Mat Warehouse thieves spent a luxurious time in Spain, the likes of Ronny Knight,Charlie Wilson and John Palmer that were responsible loaded millions into the Madrid stock market so they could drip feed money every week.Funny now that they should pick on pensioners because it’s easy, loyalty isn’t a word anymore. As a captain in the Guardia told me years ago about the Russians arriving into Alicante Airport, they are coming in with suitcases full of money, but we can deport them but not their money, please just be careful in Spain about your money.

Thanks for your reply,I don’t know how anyone that comes to Spain can apply for social help,it’s always been a given it just doesn’t happen in Spain unlike the U.K, that give out tax payers money to any migrant that has a pulse. It would be better just to go to other countries with any worries, obviously they know where you are as soon as you show your passport.

And this has something to do with the 'UK deciding to leave the EU' and Spain applying 3rd country status rulings to what is now a 3rd country?

Why can you not see..the UK voted to leave the EU and become a 3rd country. Just because you wasn't told this by vote leave party doesn't change the outcome.

You are quite correct...and that is more to do with the UK policies. Hence the desire for migrants to want to go to the UK for handouts and not remain in countries who were not a soft touch. I've just arrived and I've got no money - 'here you are'... I need somewhere to live - 'here you are'. I'm British and got no money -'Join the queue and fill in the form'. That's why the UK wanted to take control of its borders, doesn't seem to be working though..

Sorry for seeming to be thick but where do you go to when you need doctors/hospital attention is it free for pensioners, I know the E111 is still valid at the moment or do you go back to the UK for treatment

As part of getting my residency I had to have private medical cover for a year paid up front.

I think till my official retirement date I will need this till then. After that we shall see.

I must say I was glad to see a country like the U.K, and I might say a country that found a backbone to see how corrupt this EU is.It’s only now that some countries that are not playing to the tune that the EU want are now looking at why they are paying so much money every year to belong to this club with very little,or no rewards.Out of 27 countries only two are running it,the Germans and the French which seems to dictate who gets what.As I understand the U.K. we’re paying in £55,000,000 per day, and if you travel round some of the UK as I did on my way back from Canada you would find that the U.K. are better off leaving.I know things will be different in Europe for a while for the Brits but sooner if not later maybe when these European countries finally realise how much dept they are in because of COVID things will have to change, and let’s not forget, all the European people will soon have to pay for their Army, that should be an eye opener.
