Obviously I can only go by what I see and unless you work for the Governments Trade Department you would only have to guess. Now that the U.K. are not restricted by the EU rules on trade boats and ship fully loaded are arriving day and night from all over the world, and because of extreme competiti...

...on things in the U.K., according to my friends are getting cheaper, and for the pensioners is very good news. And as of next year if we stay in the U.K. I will not be depositing thousands into a Spanish bank just for the privilege of living there.

I don't understand this bit that I read everywhere. We don't deposit thousands into our Spanish bank account. Just use it as we would our UK account. I know you 'now' have to provide evidence of more earnings or savings. But that's a result of the Brexit vote and no longer being part of the EU. Staying in the EU, you wouldn't have had to provide these figures, or indeed have any problems with the start of the post, the 90 days ruling.

Other countries around the world also have the same system. It is to ensure you are not a burden on their state health etc...Unlike the UK that covers the cost of everything. I come here with no money, so I need somewhere to stay, some form of transport and some money off your benefits system.

Hi thanks for your reply, the problem is that you are only allowed 90 Days in and then you cannot return for a further 90 days, that would mean it would not be until January before I could legally return.

See a solicitor and give your power of attorney to him. Make sure he's trustworthy.

If you have a good friend here in Spain get him to oversee it for you.

Thanks for your reply, because of the new rules U.K. citizens are leaving Spain in their droves,I’m now being told that as from next year a couple will have to put thousands of pounds into a Spanish bank. This will be beyond any U.K. state pension as it wouldn’t be over £10,000 per year.Someth...

If you were here before 2021 then the new rules fo not apply, so not sure why people would leave? I moved here in Dec 2020 and have limited funds but used the old rules to get my NIE then my TIE. No problems and love it here. I could not have come on the new rules as I do not have that sort of income as I retired early at 59. However I easily live on €500 a month (no electricity Bill's as I am full solar panelled). That also covers cost for my animals! I am in the rural area near Muro De Alcoy so cost are a little cheaper than the coast.

Hi Peter, If you had been here in 1987 you would have found a much different Spain.I understand that most countries have changed, Spain more than most. When I first came here in 70s Spain was classed as a third world country, they have done very well out of us and the EU.But now, because they are being bullied by Brussels to warn any other country that decides to leave this most corrupt organisation on the planet this is how it will be.It’s not the Spanish Government that want people from the U.K. to deposit their life savings in to Spanish Banks it was decided by Brussels as another punishment.Hopefully Peter you have the funds for next years law, myself and my wife have no intentions of putting tens of thousands of our money going into a Spanish bank with no guarantee that if the bank disappears over night like the Cam Bank that we will be reimbursed, remember there is no FSA  in Spain.  Best regards.

And I bet dazza70 that the FCA was there when the Cam Bank when bust and all the English lost loads of their monies, and as my neighbour is still fighting for his money with no help at all.

Hi I am not sure what you mean by next years law? Can you explain more as I do not have the funds requested this year to move to Spain but I do I have my TIE now and what law would try and kick me out if I don't win the lottery if they suddenly require more savings?

Regards Peter

If you already have your TIE then you already have residencia. You don't need to do anything more about savings or earnings. Just use your bank as you would normally and enjoy.

Cheers got me worried for a moment!

I missed the chance to exchange my driving license and had to pass my Spanish theory and practical driving test 38 years after passing my English one!

Life here is good but we all have to jump through a few hoops to get our paradise.

Stay safe and thank you for update

Hi,I just been online to verify what my neighbour was telling me that as from 2022 you will need an annual income of 25,560 euros and an extra 6,390 for each additional family member a grand total of 31,950 euros.I can only say that for the last 35 years of having a villa in Spain and Spanish Bank account for as long, I’ve never been asked to deposit what the bank wants.I have always only had enough in my Spanish account to pay my direct debits, luckily I lost no money when the Cam Bank went bust unfortunately not the same for a lot of others. When you consider that a state pension in the U.K. only comes to around £9,350 per year there is something very suspicious about all of this.
