I have a holiday home in Pego and absolutely love it. Plenty of bars and restaurants without being touristy. It really is a beautiful town, good value for money. I lived previously in Javea Port and I much prefer Pego. Don't be put off by negative comments.

Mine wasn't a negative, purely my honest assessment based on the previous poster's comment.

It's possible that we might have met in the town pre-plague, if so then you would understand me😉

I don't think our comments  are negative. How many months of the year are you here? Full-time and brief hols is like comparing apples and oranges. And the very REAL gypsy issue is not being "negative", nor is seeing bars on rooftop doors being "negative". It's helping future buyers not be lumbered with a beautifully restored unsellable house. Misguided "optimism" can rapidly become an absolute nightmare. Caveat emptor and all that. Wow, "negative" is it, warning people to tread carefully? Lol.

Hello

If people ask for the Pros & Cons of somewhere, then obviously the  so called, negative comments are as important as everyone elses ....That is why people ask!

Cheers

I must agree with Herefordjack and big ash, Pego is a fantastic town, loads to do and see

Easy access to all major motorways and roads. If you need a big lifestyle move to Javea.. if you want an nice easy life and ambiance then Pego is for you.

The locals are very friendly and helpful, my only advice is learn a little Spanish, they like that and appreciate that you try.

The walks are beautiful in the surrounding mountains

Come and see

In almost all towns the amount of things to do and see are directly proportional to the size of the town. Pego is not a big town at approx 10,000 people and I wouldn't consider it exceptionally rich in sights or culture, no better or no worse.

It's access to major roads is better than some, worse than others.

The issue revolves around the observations of FCFradet, which I supported. I wonder whether you would agree or whether your experience is different to ours.

My experience is totally different yours and FCfradet

I moved to Pego for a more sedate way of life, which is what we were looking for in our later years, having had the hustle and bustle and crime rate of London

The scenery is second to none, the restaurants/ bars/ cafes are always welcoming, and as previously mentioned the Pegonians are a welcoming bunch.

There are so called gypsies in every town and city in Spain and Pego is no different, but I have not experienced a problem in that regard at all whilst I have been living here.

Overall I find it perfect for me, but understand that it is not everyone and that is why they don’t live here anymore

Well said Garry 35. In my opinion, our Pego community covers a diverse community, we are all different. In my opinion, we all rub along together in a beautiful town. Let's celebrate our diversity.

I don't know where in town you live, whether you have walked it all at different times or looked at dwellings in certain parts prior to deciding where to live. These might well determine whether your experiences can match ours.

I agree that the hostelries are welcoming and the Pegolinas are a friendly bunch, I've found that to be true wherever I've been in Spain.

The scenery is beautiful, as it is in many towns and villages, no better necessarily, just different.

I don't find the town to be particularly beautiful, a few parts are, but on the whole the streets are quite dour. As Herefordjacjk has said, it's a working town, it's not a pretty hillside village.

Please note the distinction between the town and the townspeople.

Diversity is a fact of life, in people as much as in vegetables and , on the whole, is generally accepted to be a good idea. However, there are times when I am happy to admit that I'd rather not live cheek by jowl with certain other diverse elements. Perhaps some people, just as they might not choose to live in Pego will not admit that they too would not live in certain parts of the town, if they are indeed aware of them.

Hi

Believe me when I say I have walked every nook and cranny of Pego in my time in the town.

At the end of the day everybody has a right to their own opinion, and mine is all positive towards living in Pego.

It’s a shame that not everyone shares the same opinion, but If it’s not for you that’s fine, I can’t understand why you are still here if you have so many negative thoughts to the place where you live

If I didn’t like it as much you say you do to I wouldn’t stay here

I can't remember saying that I don't like it here,  perhaps you'd be kind enough to to show me.
