Hi

We have just arrived in Spain approximately 7 days ago, just in time it would seem.

Unfortunately I am undergoing chemotherapy and need a fortnightly blood test. The plan had been to sign on to the Spanish system and transfer my medical notes to my doctor here, but cannot get a TIE signed by the police as they are not doing them. I would have thought there would be extenuating circumstances where they would make exception?

Can anybody help me please.

Spencer

Hi Spencer

My wife is Spanish and she says go to the emergency in your local hospital and they will sort your treatment out. Don't forget to take all documents you have in case you are stopped by the authorities.

Good luck

I wish you well of course and hope you can get the treatment you need however your mention of a TIE suggests that you are not an EU citizen and if so I'm just wondering on what basis you are expecting to 'sign on' to the Spanish health system?

If all else fails there are private hospitals and clinics where you can pay for the tests which you need.

Be very careful out there as it sounds like you are in a very high risk group.

To follow on from the above, have you got a long-term residence visa? You have to be in possession of that before you can apply for a TIE.

I have already been to the Denia Hospital who were helpful. However because I have not been able to get TIE I had to pay cash and cannot claim it back as the TIE has not been completed and I need that for my EHI Card. So I am stuck having to pay cash any time I need health care.

Kind Regards

Hi

Thank you for your response, I am a EU (for the time being) British I have moved from France where I have been living. I have a Carte Vital which is my cover for medical in France. My original EHI card has run out several years ago.

If I continue to pay cash with no recourse for claiming it back I will go bankrupt.

Kind Regards

Spencer

Hi

Thank you for your response, but no I don't have a long term visa. I arrived here 12th March and all systems have closed regarding signing into the Spanish system.

Kind Regards

We moved from the UK to France where we lived for many years. We moved from ?France to Spain 4 years ago, it took about a year to get all papers sorted and the relevant cards. Don’t know about TIE, we got NIE, then pardon, residencia, driving licences and health cards.

Thank you for your reply pretty much the same route as we are on. However, the question has not been answered.

Thank you for your time and please be safe.
