Dear Forum

I read an article on the Covid-19 Vaccination programme here in Spain and it confirmed that all Citizens,Residents and Aliens will be offered the vaccination as a basic right, whether you are on the National Health programme or have private health care.

You will , however, have to register at your local Health Centre so I am asking if anybody has been to a centre in Petrer recently and can advise me of where it is and would a translator be required to make the initial registration. Thanks in advanced.

Hi Trevor,

I don't know about Petrer specifically, but I also read the article below from The Local.

Kind regards,

Kim

"We don’t have information yet on how the people will be called up to be vaccinated, but it will be organised by the regional health authority where you live.

"Those living in Spain have been advised to contact their local health centre to register, regardless of whether they are entitled to free health care or have private health insurance.  Tourists and holiday home owners will not be eligible.

"Before you do just drop in, it is advised to call ahead as some health care centres require an appointment.

"You should provide the following information:

  1. Your passport (bring a copy just in case)
  2. Your residence card (green certificate or TIE)
  3. “Certificado de empadronamiento” (registration with the Town Hall), no older than three months.
  4. In the case of minors, you should bring their documents and birth certificates as well. Children do not need to be present.

"Keep checking the health authority announcements online in the region where you are living as each regional government will be responsible for administering the programme in their community.  You can do so my clicking on this interactive map for information in each of Spain's autonomous regions:

Hi, we registered in Torrevieja. We took all our paper work but they only looked at padron.

I had typed out the Spanish of what we wanted.

Was unable to get through on the phone

thank you, it does seem that when you take all the paperwork they only want one piece for their attention. Trevor

Thanks Kimmy11, this is the same article that I read and is helpful but as I am not registered at my local clinic, I need to jump through the Spanish hoops to get on the local list for Vaccination call up.

Hi Trevor,

Neither am I.  I plan to take everything listed in The Local's article to my local health centre, along with proof of my private health insurance; afterall, the article does say, "regardless of whether they are entitled to free health care or have private health insurance".  I'll report back in due course.

Kind regards,

Kim
