Only two options with Goldcar

1. Refuse their insurance and put 1200e deposit on your CC.

2. Or buy their own insurance.

Like you I have a UK insurance policy. They give you all the scare tactics just refuse and let them put the deposit on your card.

Ok,

The price of their insurance is more than the hire itself, and they rely on you taking their insurance, that’s why they put a charge of 1200 Euro on your cc.

Plus if you have any damage wether your fault or others,

You still pay.

If you get excess car hire insurance you are covered for the money blocked , I've used them loads but maybe been lucky not to have had any problems ...... So far

Thank you  yes they wont put the charge on your card as they reclaim any cost via the insurance policy if you have invested in it of course.

Thanks

I use campoverde cars. Will pick you up and drop you off at airport. Very reasonable rates and no hidden extras. Look at their website

EDI Rent a Car  https://www.edirentacar.com

We have used them for years - no hidden extras and no problems over charging for extra insurance or fuel.  Family run business.  No hanging around at the airport either - they meet you in the car park and you are on your way within a few minutes.  We have got to know them over the years and they went the extra mile for us on personal service when we had a family crisis and I had a couple of unexpected and urgent flights to Spain, it just made a very bad time a little less stressful knowing I could rely on them to produce a car at a few hours notice and not have to wait around at the airport.

Hi,

I am hiring a car from Monday 17th to Fri 21st Feb, booked through Doyouspain with ok cars (Alicante airport). I did the same in October last year and paid £30 for insurance online with doyouspain. However, when we got to ok cars, they said that insurance was not valid and we had to take their one. I feel like I totally wasted the £30 originally spent. I have now had an email from doyouspain saying I haven't taken out their insurance this time and I should do it, but I'm worrying now what should I do. Please can someone advise me? Thank you
