I very much doubt an antidote will ever be found. Just due to the way Coronavirus works in masking it's binders and mutates them - the very reason the common cold coronavirus cannot be immunised against will be the reason for Sars-2. Not all in the scientific community believe this but as it's a ...

...new virus there is no way of telling at this time yet if this is a fact and if we are to believe the mortality rates I think it's safe to say nothing will ever quite be the same again. This nasty little CV will thin out the herd - it's probably why the ex-head of Mi6 is sure it was man-made and perhaps for this very reason created. It has been widely reported it also damages your body for life in some case. This time next year we'll know for sure if it's an annual recurring but but I think holidays in the sun should be wishful thinking for a while until we really know the score.  The uptick will first be in the UK as it's really obvious the Spanish overall still mask/glove/isolate but have you seen the British behaviour? I get the stiff upper lip and carry on regardless thing with it's not bombs and bullets, it's some odd RNA that wants your cells as a host.

Hi Garylamata , a really interesting post and agree with you , regarding the bit about " have you seen the british behaviour?" Are you talking about the people on the beaches lately? Or the tens of thousands of people protesting in London and other big cities around the country lately?

Hi. When I thought of the behaviour I was thinking of the beach esp. Brighton Beach which was so packed the local council beach wardens were meeting travellers at the train station ordering them back home. But really it's everything and everywhere inc. the BLM march in London etc etc. A caller on LBC summed it up as the Brits see lockdown as some sort of punishment and, like some child now letoff the naughty step and given some sweets at the same time, they are going nuts - or seem to be if the MSM reporting is anything to go by as I'm still in Spain! I mean noone has a working crystal ball to my knowledge but even with the best glass-half-full way I can try to see the near future I just cannot see this fading away and normality coming back. Most economies have been shattered by this anyway which is really going to hit home once the furlough is over and families have to face reality.

Agreed, your not missing much here in the UK,  it's as if a protest with 20000 people + in london not social distancing never happened !!

I totally agree that the rush to open the borders is driven by business and not safety I think that the UK has dealt badly with the virus and like one person said one person dying because the borders where opened to soon would be one person too many and I think it might be worse if a second spike occurs then what would happen to the business sectors John

Hi,

Sounds like a good plan, especially the test to give yourself peace of mind. I didn't know they were readily available in Scotland but I must admit they seem to be managing the whole situation and appear to have it under control there.

In the IMED clinic in torrevieja private covid-19 including antibody tests are available for 50 Euros which I think is a good price the same test in London is £250.

Have a safe journey and enjoy your stay.

Best Wishes

Vivienne

Hi VivienneAnn,

Yes, you can get a test here in Scotland, which in theory you can get if you have symptoms, but many are getting test whether they have symptoms or not. My good lady works in the NHS and has been redeployed to one of the testing centres. If they were being overrun with people with symptoms I wouldn't, but I know they are running well below capacity.

Brittany Ferries have just cancelled everything to the 28th June, so really cutting it fine now for our (planned) voyage on the 5th July! Brittany Ferries also appear to have put a few new processes in place for any crossing, in prep for the gates being opened again - i.e. you MUST get an overnight cabin and very restricted services such as shops/drinking/food etc. Definitely not allowing anyone to get tanked in the bar and fall asleep in one of their bookable reclining lounge chairs (like they would normally allow).

Best wishes,

G

Hi UKHandyMan4Hire, if you were Les Dennis and i had been a contestant on your show and I answered that question would you 'Give me the money yourself ' ? 😄

I think you would, so I will give you the source from which i base my answer.

The statement reffering to 1st July being the date travel to and from Spain was to be welcomed was taken from the on line edition of El Pais.

The article referenced the TV broadcast made by the Spanish PM on Saturday and quoted him as saying 1st July was the 'welcome back 'date.

Michael O'Leary will be happy to hear that, I'm sure.

Well I thought the tourists were being allowed in now from the UK without even a par test so long as they have been vaccinated....

The problem is returning to the U.K. as you have to quarantine for 10 days and buy god knows how many tests !
