Not the first time the poster has aimed barbs at members he disagrees with and surely won't be the last either.

If banning UK tourists and holiday home owners (like the poster) helps Spain contain the virus and prevents as much as one single death then personally I'll be popping champagne corks all day everyday. ...

...

If you want to blame anybody for it then I suggest you look to Boris's ill begotten, late, and half ar5ed 'lockdown', and the elements of the great British public who still don't seem to get it.

With hindsight it is very easy to point fingers and aportion blame. Do you not  think that the majority governments worldwide have acted in the best way possible given the information available from the medical fraternity, and that does vary from country to country.

Covid19, like the Flu, which is a killer and comes back in various guises year after year, is not going to go away,Let's have some positivty, we have got to find a way to live with it rather than let it control us.

Unless there is a change in mindset,we will soon be in a financial predicament that is totally unsustainable. If we do not have a viable economy, how are we going to fund the health and other essential services . Whether you like it or not we have got to find a way to move forward.

Hi Rob, The Spanish PM today, confirmed that foriegn tourists were to be welcomed with immediate effect commencing July 1st .

That gives The UK Coronavirus infection rate a full month to improve.

I take it the actual amount of improvement required was not specified by The Spanish Tourism Minister, therefore the possibility of travellers from the UK allowed entry into Spain from July1st is still a very real one.

Dirsantapola, dont worry if those corks have been popping they just could be extremely premature. 😏

Hiya Les (Not wanting to sound like a Family Fortunes Contestant!)

Can you let me know where you have seen the official note about the 1st July? Whilst I am working towards this date, my current understanding is that this is the date that international travellers will not be required to quarantine. I have not seen anything that specifically says 1st July is the open border date? (so to speak)

Thank you

Hi UKHandyMan4Hire, if you were Les Dennis and i had been a contestant on your show and I answered that question would you 'Give me the money yourself ' ? 😄

I think you would, so I will give you the source from which i base my answer.

The statement reffering to 1st July being the date travel to and from Spain was to be welcomed was taken from the on line edition of El Pais.

The article referenced the TV broadcast made by the Spanish PM on Saturday and quoted him as saying 1st July was the 'welcome back 'date.

Michael O'Leary will be happy to hear that, I'm sure.

Thank you Les

edit - BUT... It still only says FROM 1st July Onwards. The actual link takes you to an article which still only talks about quarantine being dropped.

I am not allowing myself to get too excited about getting back to seeing my family and celebrating all the important family events I have missed this year so far!

88 days and still counting

Hi HandyMan,

This link refers to 1 July date for Spain opening its borders:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/news/hope-for-a-summer-holiday-in-spain-slashed/

but if we (Spain) have an increase in the infection rate, that could well change.  Even then, Spain's Tourism Minister, Maria Reyes Maroto, has said they will only open borders to visitors from countries where Covid-19 is under control.  She said the UK's infection rate "still had to improve" before Britons will be allowed to visit.

Kind regards,

Kim

I had flights booked to arrive on 3rd July but have noticed today easyJet have stopped selling all flights from uk (nearly all airports except Gatwick and Manchester)to all of Spain until 16th July. I am awaiting email to say my flight is cancelled as this is what happened last time but just in case anyone else has flights booked before 16th July they might want to check it out

Dear Dlrsantapola ,

No one here would want to celebrate at this disappointing news.

For people who live and work here all year round it is important that holiday home owners and tourist come to Spain as often as possible because only then can there be sufficient business to keep the local economy functioning.  That in turn ensures services to continue to improve and be provided for all of us.

However people here want to be safe and want to ensure that all visitors to Spain are safe and want to avoid Costa Blanca becoming the Corona Virus hub of Europe.

I do understand peoples disappointment but this is not a punishment but a necessity to keep residents and visitors from all countries safe. Spain would be negligent in the extreme to take not take account of every ones safety.

Hopefully infection rates will continue to reduce in the UK by people following the good advice.

Best wishes and hope all who want to travel to Spain can do shortly.

Vivienne

I am hoping to travel via Ferry (Plymouth to Santander) on 5th July, to our holiday home in Villamartin. But as a precaution, as I want both my family to be healthy for travelling but also don't want to transmit / bring in anything if we are not. We felt that the safest option, was to travel by car and the nature of the Ferry, most of the time will be in the cabin anyway. Planning on staying for 5 weeks, so worth the effort I think.

Our plan is to self-isolate the 2 weeks prior to travel, then get a COVID test 2 or 3 days before our planned travel date. Not sure if it's the same throughout the UK, but here in Scotland, anyone can book in for a test or to self-test. As long as we feel healthy and our test is good, we will travel (if UK/Spain let us that is).

Just thought I'd share in case anyone thinking along the same lines (and hope we all get to travel if safe to do so).

G
