For those of you who live in CampoVerde, you will be aware of the sad news that Danny‘s bar and Grill may have to close through no fault of their own, full Storey is on their Facebook page.

The family appear to have done everything they can personally, including making an offer to buy the bar but the banks are not playing fair.

Discussions took place last night about the community, getting together in an attempt to give them more support and put pressure on the bank.

Can anyone please advise what would be the best way to go about this, for instance, engaging the mayor.

I hope someone can provide some support as this bar seems to be the hub of the Community seem to be being treated unfairly.

If anyone has the ear of the mayor that might be a good place to start.

Good start would be to put up a very very poor review of the bank on Trustpilot, put it in English and Spanish, get lots of people to like the post, better still put a link to the Trustpilot review on here, its a start, these corporates hate bad reviews.

I'm not from there but the giste of the post seems to be that their existing landlord took the rent payments during COVID etc but did not pay the bank. So the bank repossessed the property. So far so normal.

Bank takes over; transfers the management of the property to probably one of its own internal subsidiaries (if my experience of this in the UK is anything to go by) who in turn are tasked with basically deleveraging the banks assets i.e. to try and sell it while keeping the income stream from the rental.

What the owners are saying is that the price demanded by the bank is wholly disproportionate to the real value to the extent where they're not prepared to pay the amount demanded. Nor do they wish to continue renting because of their bad experience of what happened with their previous landlord.

As to a solution - the challenge here is that the best way to leverage a solution is likely to be one that harms the staff etc which the owners clearly care about and don't wish to do.

EDIT - you don't have to be on Facebook to be able to search the bar name and view the post. As I said above, I've personally never been to the bar in question so am just trying to summarise as best I can based on the social media post. I 100% do NOT have any first hand experience of the bar or the owners.

Is there any chance they could move to the rusty nail. It looks a large site and I would be more than happy to help with decorating, cleaning etc. It could be the new hub of the community

So sad when this happens.
There was a similar situation with a bar in Quesada last year. Rent was being paid to the landlord, who didn’t pay the mortgage. The bar had been a local institution for many many years

But heads up to the team at Danny’s for telling the story and trying to stop the Chinese Whispers which always happen when a bar suddenly has to close its doors.

That could be complicated I think there’s a legal process taking place over the premises.

Might sound bonkers but do we have a protest with “Save Danny’s Bar” placards outside the local branch of the bank subject of the issue.

Might be advisable to liase with the local Police in advance.
