Hello there! We are a British couple (46/47 and 44/45) wishing to move to Pinar de Campoverde for the start of the school year in September 2018 when our children will be 9 and nearly 6. We have had a holiday home in the area for the last 2 years and now want to make a more permanent move especia...

...lly for our children to learn Spanish and for all of us to enjoy the climate and more of an outdoor lifestyle. We have businesses in the UK we would continue to run remotely so are not dependent on earning an income in Spain although we would no doubt have to take residency if we were here more than 6 months a year. Obviously things are up in the air with Brexit but we have no problem getting private health insurance and if we could no longer attend a local Spanish school we would look to put our children into the private international school ELIS at Villamartin. Does anyone have any advice about:

- Renting in the area before we buy

- Good local Spanish schools & whether we might be accepted

- Best areas of PdC to look at properties where we would be onto faster roads more quickly (all important for that twice daily school run!)

- Social activities for people our age and whether there are many similarly aged children in the village

- Anything else we ought to think carefully about!

Many, many thanks in advance!

Emma & Mark

King's College Murcia would be half an hour away, excellent reputation. They are based near Roldan.

Thank you very much but we fear the kids won't be immersed enough to learn Spanish there as it is all very English/British. Thanks anyway :-)

Hi,

I know two children who go to Private school in San Pedro. They follow the English curriculum but they don't learn Spanish. The children don't know any Spanish at all

Hi Mark,

Sorry I didn't get back to you. I couldn't go in the end because I was ill so my husband went.

The children borrow the books from the library so no cost there.

There is no cost for them to attend the school itself.

The costs for the lunch and catching the bus from the village they haven't told us yet. I'm thinking maybe they will send that by post.

The school year this year starts on September 11th.

The enrolment process is done now for this year, if you need a place for this year then probably best to contact them.

If I hear anything else about the bus and lunch costs I will let you know.

If you need any more info just ask away

Best wishes

Marie

Hi Marie

Thank you so much for the info. I knew we would miss this years enrolment so I think I will  try and sort it out when we get there.

Thanks again I really appreciate it

Mark

Hi

I visited the ELIS school last week and was looking for my 8 year old to start in Sept.  I have a house in Quesada and looking to move to Campoverde, but cant see a bus to the ELIS school from there.  I cant find a website for the mediterraneo school either.  Does anyone have any further details for this school?

The ELIS school was excellent and children were/become fluent ibn both English and Spanish, fees not bad either!

We have now enrolled our kids at the New Castelar private bilingual school in San Pedro (just a 20 min drive). The school seems excellent! We'd be very happy to meet up with any parents and kids similar ages in Campoverde once we're there in September! Emma

Don't think there is a bus to/from ELIS but do have a look at the New Castelar in San Pedro, which is bilingual and seems to be excellent (private but fees much less than in the UK). We have enrolled ours there to start in September. We'll have to meet up when we're all settled!

Thank you, I will have a look at this school, as maybe a closer option:) My youngest son is 8 and my other children will be staying in UK.  I too will be running my company from Spain and I’m 40, so would be nice to meet up.  I will be back over and looking to rent a house in that area in the next few weeks.

Anyone know of any nice 3/4 bed for long term rent in Campoverde?
