We want to move to Spain as a family my wife myself and our children ! We have been held up by the sale if our house taking longer than expected ! What now well we are determined to move to Spain lock stock and barrel! Under this new deal we should be able to move as any other non EU country I guess ! Feeling quite sad with the delays and this bloody pandemic.

Are you totally familiar with the income and healthcare requirements for a family of four to relocate legally to Spain?

How old are your children? If under 16 better think twice. The primary education system is far from what you can expect in other anglo saxon countries.

I would suggest that you have a look at the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain website for anything to do with bureaucracy in Spain and the N332 website for anything to do with driving in Spain.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Thank you for the advice ! I do intend to put a business together and I am looking to live inland a bit. I'm hoping to create a passive income mostly ! I intend to supply the local government with a service to help the schools colleagues and Universities at a reduced rate as I have know intention on becoming a millionaire! I just need a sustainable wage. The business I intend to create will definitely serve the local community aswel as the public in the weekends. It is not reliant on tourism and is more than needed.

I want to fully integrate into Spanish life and have had family in Spain for 47 years.

I would like to think the authorities would welcome us as we want to put our future into Spain for generations to come. The UK does not suite my family and we much prefer a more gentle life with a better attitude for life.

Hi Jeff58,

We are in a similar position to you and I was wondering if you managed to travel to Spain.

We bought a charming country house  in a quiet little village called Encebras. The house is semi habitable but wanted to restore more before we finally move over.

I would be grateful if you could tell me if you managed to get into Spain?

We don't want to travel immediately as I respect that this virus is serious and travelling to different countries is not really recommended, but curious to know if you made it through.

Thanks,

Della

Oh Jeff I am sorry things have had to be postponed. My Dad always told me ' what's for you will never miss you'. I hope you and your family get back on track once all these restrictions are over.

We visited Spain a few times looking for somewhere to buy and whilst visiting friends in Pinoso before we travelled home to UK and without finding a property we found our house. This was at the begining of March.  We always thought it was sitting there waiting till we found it.  Encebras is a lovely little Spanish village inland near Pinoso. Typical Spanish village, no shops but a beautiful spanish church. We had to fly home because of commitments but planned to return the next week. Then the first lockdown came so that plan was cancelled,  so too were further attempts to get there. Finally in june we boarded the plane to seal our purchase. It was such a happy time.  The Spanish and Expats in this part of Spain are lovely. We have been back a few times to restore our house but she is habitable as she is. Last time we were there was October, and different rules have appeared regarding travel to Spain. So we wait and wait further till such times that we can once again visit Spain.

One thing we have learnt is that we have got use to waiting. In our experience, it is what it is and it just makes us more eager to get there once all this lockdown is over.

Take care and keep safe !

Della
