Are there discounts for resident pensioners to go from Alicante airport by bus to Alicante rail station and then by train to Madrid. If so where can we apply? Many thanks

Renfe have an over 60s card - tarjeta dorado- you can get. You can get it from a train station , or through a travel agent who will charge an admin fee. Ours ended up being 10 each but we got that back on the fare reduction. You can save up to 40% if I remember correctly .
Golden Card
It is a nominative and non-transferable card, which can be purchased by people over 60 years of age, which entitles you to obtain discounts under the established conditions.
The Gold Card must always be accompanied by the corresponding transport ticket.
It is valid for all days of the week, during its validity period, from the date of issue.
To whom it is addressed and Documentation that they must submitIf you are over 60 years old, get a discount on all your train trips for only 6 euros. You can purchase your Gold Card, nominative and non-transferable, at station ticket offices or at travel agencies.
It is valid for one year.
Discounts
On AVE trains, AVE International between Spain and France and Long Distance
25% discount on any available price.
On Avant trains
From Monday to Friday: 25% discount
Saturdays and Sundays: 40% discount
On Medium Distance trains
40% discount
Tickets purchased with your Gold Card allow changes and cancellations as long as your ticket allows it and may be subject to charges.
