Hi, have read a bit about this, and it seems that most people who apply to use it want to come and live in Spain.  Would someone who wanted to stay for only 5 or 6 months need this or is there another type of short stay visa?

There is no short stay visa.....

The non-lucrative visa is for retirees who wish to live in Spain permanently.

You will be limited to the 90 in 180 day limit.

With a NLV you are not allowed to work or earn money.  Your income must be from passive sources only.  I think that meets most peoples definition of retirement.

Thank you all.  My daughter has sold her house very quickly and her new house will not be ready till November. Thought she might be able to stay with us till it was ready. Still, she can stay the 90 days.
