Would like to grow climbing flowers - Advice PLEASE image attched

BOUGAINVILLEA  is the name of those beautiful plants.  
They can be grown in pots but of course they would do better as large plants directly in soil.  
The size of container would depend on the size of plant.   So as they grow you would need to transfer them into pots one size bigger each time until they are mature. 

They would need regular watering and some amount of plant food until mature.
Perhaps some protection from cold winds during winter while getting established.

Mature plants like those in the photo would not need as much water.  But I would imagine not watering them from June until September would not be a good idea.  Nearly every plant in a pot would not survive.

Plants are easy to buy from shops, florists, markets and garden centers.   Why not try growing one?  Maybe ask a neighbour who has a bougainvillea in your area how they manage?  Gardeners love (usually) to talk about their plants.

Bougainvillea looks lovely. Our's is at least fifteen years old and still goes rampant. It's planted in the ground and I never water it.

The drawback is that it's a swine to prune because of the thorns.

I like them too, but I am always a little bit afraid of the rubbish they cause when they loose their leaves.

As an afterthought, think about Lantana. Long flowering season and multi-coloured.

We have a beautiful Flame Vine (Pyrostegia Venusta) growing on the front of our house - it's smothered in clumps of orange, trumpet like flowers, throughout the cooler months:

Ours is planted in the ground, but friends grow one in a pot, which seems to slow down its otherwise rapid growth.  In the ground, it doesn't need watering but it will do in a pot.

I'm afraid I don't know whether it's scented - the bees absolutely love it, so I don't want to get close enough to find out!  :o)  But at least it attracts my favourite pollenators to our gardens.
