Guys, remember the OP IS going on holiday and not a resident, he will be based coastal/touristy area with kids, I highly doubt they will be spending most of their holiday inland living the Spanish way. .....all we can do is advise activities/prices local to where they are staying.

There are lots of restaurants in the Flamenca Beach centre, better choice and cheaper than the Boulevard for food.  Some of the restaurants do an early evening deal, before 8pm.  Hopefully your holiday let property will have a map and directions to places too.  There is crazy golf in Campoamor too.  If you like Chinese food there are several Wok restaurants in the area which offer all-you-can-eat deals.  Some well priced Indian food restaurants as well.

If you are looking to keep the cost of eating down then I would recommend doing a supermarket shop and suggesting your boys find 'Spanish' foods to try out.  Lunch out is usually the cheaper option than an evening meal out.  And, of course, take full advantage of the free stuff like the pool, the beach, walks, Boulevard entertainment (your boys may like the gaming days), the Saturday street market (you don't have to buy anything!), Thursday street market in Cabo Roig.  Check the local free English papers that you see outside some shops for what's on s well.

Pop into the Tourist Info at the town hall and you may be able to do one of the tourist bus trips up to Orihuela.  Cheap and you get entry into a place of interest included.  (I presume they are still running them.)

There are also free coach trips to a few places - free because they stop at a blanket factory or something else on route so you have to do a promotions thing en route, but take it as adding to the fun.  Leaflets are often given out on the market.  Guardalest is worth a visit if you want a day trip.

Most of all, enjoy yourselves and relax - you are on your hols!

Just looking for a general idea of beer and food prices in Playa Flamenca...heading there for the first time on the 11th August for    two weeks, two adults and two boys 12 and 14....getting a bit worried we mightn't have enough money heading out?........Also any tips for keep...

...ing my lads occupied...we seen the karting looks good...any other activities that won't rob us

Thanks in advance,

Ger

At Easter we took our 3 grandchildren into the harbour area of Torrevieja  and just across from the fair where you can pay to go and have a look round an old Russian submarine plus there is a customs boat you can go on. Our grandchildren age 8, 11 and 13 really enjoyed it and I think it only cost about €12 for all of us so really good value. Last summer the grandkids went on the inflatables that we out in the sea at.     Campoamor beach - cost €5 each for half an hour and they loved it. As previously mentioned the go-carts will be a huge hit, a bit pricey but definitely worth doing. Don't forget at the theiage the pool and the beach are great fun. Have a fabulous holiday!

Playa flamenca is not a Spanish town so yes we pay more than the non tourist places.

I have gave the gave the guy real prices for the area he is staying in.

So stop being petty and get real or you will put the family off

Horses or courses RayD.  The OP is obviously wanting a holiday, as such probably understands and expects the difference in real spain and tourist prices, however, as a family ...like most..are probably just as happy doing the touristy thing, near the beach etc, the OP was merely asking on prices to obtain a general idea.

Personally, I spend around six months of the year in and around La Zenia and Player Flamenca in my home and rarely feel the need or want to travel inland as we love the touristy/holiday atmosphere and do t find it overly expensive.....as I say...horses for courses.

Hi there, the emerald isle and abbey tavern are close by and have free daily/nightly entertainment (see fb) also villamartin plaza has regular entertainment. Many places offer special menu for under 10 euro pp. A new land train at playa flamenca can take you to many places. Its hop on hop off and only costs 3 euro per person per day for unlimited travel. Look on eurotourguide for whats on

When our children were young and we were going abroad we obviously had a budget and what we did mostly was to cater for ourselves for breakfast and picnics etc for lunch go to the pool, beach etc and that way we could afford to eat drink and basically do what we wanted in the evenings. Have a look at the offer boards outside the bars and restaurants while you are out and about, prices can vary quite a lot.

Hi, we own a property in Playa Flamenca and have been travelling there for 12 years, we have 2 boys 12 and 7. We’ve learned to do things the Spanish way and we love it more than eating out in restaurants every day, plus we spend a fraction of the amount used to. We always do a big shop at Lidl and most days head to the beach with our cool bag, sandwiches, fresh pineapple and melon and loads of drinks and you don’t have to spend much. Bearing in mind our boys love iPads and Xbox, we forget all about them when in Spain, we bought a set of Boules and a pack of cards and that’s us sorted ! We normally head to the Saturday Market and the boys always enjoy an hour or so at the CDM sports centre. Honestly you don’t have to spend a pile of money, enjoy, it’s perfect for families 😎
