Log burner is the answer, cheap fuel {leña} pronounced lenya. Very soporific watching the flames, very cosy. Definitely worth the effort.

The original question was pros and cons of living in Spain, that is what has been given ,plenty of variation as plenty of experiences from plenty of people ,I think you can take out of the replies what you wish and if it helps one make a better more knowledgeable decision ,all for the better

I have to disagree with you about the choice in supermarkets.   I have lived in Almoradí and we have fantastic choice from Mercadona, Lidl, 2 Hiperbers, SuperDumbo plus many smaller shops and there is normally lots of things going on (pre Covid that is) as well as a Saturday morning market ...

...that takes over many streets in the centre of town.   There is also a large health centre plus many bars and restaurants.

Where we live have Carrefour, Mercadona, Consum, ALDI, Lidl, Hiperber, Iceland all within short distance either walk or car.  October according to press we will have Tesco.   How many more will you need.

Almoradi has the potential to be a booming town; the major needs to take advantage of the new laws, regarding squatters, and get them out.

I am sorry if you thought I was bring prickly which was not meant.   All I said was the amount of shops.  I never mentioned choice but as far as I am concerned there is nothing I cannot get from all the selections available.

I have to agree about the choice of produce.   There is certainly plenty of choice.

Hi  I can't understand how nobody ever mentions how cold it is in the winter . I'm not saying it's cold in the day time it's not lots of lovely sunny days but at night if you haven't got central heating you'd better get yourself some thermals.

We are fairly used to all the temperature changes now we've lived here for some years.

The winter period can be very cold indeed as Spanish builds are not for cold weather! If you find a source of heating that suits you will definitely need it here.

July/August is just baking months where you're begging for rain!
