I have a sip card for health piggy backed on my wife's  as I wasn't of retirement age when we first moved to spain. I have now received my S1 from uk to get health sip card in my own right having now reached retirement age. Do I just take the old sip card with my new S1 to my usual medical centre and will they just change it there or do I have to go somewhere else to change it.?

Thanks Ken

I think you need to take your S1 to the INSS to process then re-present the paperwork again at your clinic.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I have just assisted a new 72 year old UK neighbour to achieve residencia and now a SIP card.

We tried to get a face to face appointment in Denia social security but this proved impossible due to covid, all they would give us was a leaflet explaing how to do it online. Since I have an electronic certificate (see Jims Guides), I set myself up as her representative and did it for her. The documents you need to send all have to be in PDF form. I did this by scanning them, copying them to a Word document and converting to PDF. The documents required were the S1 form, passport, residencia green card and, in our case, the form appointing me as representitive.

They processed it really quickly, within 24 hours they had sent back to me by email the document to take to the local health centre to get the SIP card issued.

Not exactly simple if you're not computer literate, in fact there was a software complication I won't bore you with, but if anyone needs help on this, PM me.

I agree with Ray, a very useful post and I've also saved it.

Well done, Mike, I'm sure your friend must really appreciate all the help you've given her.
