Be aware that if you use someone who is not a registered taxi under the Spanish system not only can the driver be fined but the passengers can be as well.

You can also be chucked out of the vehicle on your journey and will not be insured.

There have been many instances at the airport where Spanish taxi drivers have overturned cars from illegal drivers.

Not acceptable behaviour I know but then so is taking passengers when the driver is not insured for them.

Many Brits do this as a way of making money as they can't get work normally in the Spanish system or don't want to go through the process of getting a Spanish taxi licence.

Not just Spain I think most countries need you to have the proper licenses and insurance if operating for reward, including the UK. I wouldn't use anyone unlicensed in UK or in Spain.
