The lefties always have to bring politics or Brexit into a discussion, It's disgraceful that so many people on here moan and hate almost anything to do with the Uk they should be ashamed of themselves.

its these lefties that have been living in spain under the radar for years maybe they will have pay now.

Not sure how Brexit reared its ugly head but having done so, Britain formed most of the rules including repayment of loans, which we are very reluctant to do. All members of the European Parliament are elected by the people living in the country they came from  I voted every time I was told a vacancy was coming up, many many didn't, the civil servants who seem  as always to do the work are chosen by the the Parliament same as in UK, so any failings were our own poor selection and our total apathy. Farage was one such person, duly elected but never used his vote and rarely turned up to any discussions debates

There’s good and bad on every side, lots of great tenants and lots of good landlords…….. likewise the reverse is true.

I own properties in the UK and Ireland in excess of 35 years that are rented out, in my time I’ve had to deal with tenants who were less than satisfactory, but the majority I’ve had absolutely no issues with, in some cases renting for 20+ years… it’s all about vetting the clients and doing the research and renting via channels that filter out the issues before they ever arise.

A genuine good tennant is a dream to have in place, it makes an owner/landlords life much easier.

My curiosity lies in the use of the term "intellectual sub class" as you clearly have labelled such individuals. Can a sub class of people be in any way intellectual? But to include people as a sub class is in itself snobbish is it not? You've identified a group of people or person you find objectionable and laid out these findings so I have to ask how was the term "renter" used in a derogatory manner. If one pays rent then one is a renter. In what context was "renter" presented to be so unsavoury? I do believe you have come across unpleasant landlords so I would like to see more context given to your observations

We have lived in Spain for some 15 years, have always rented a property always looked after it and have never missed a rent payment in all that time.   In recent times we have begun to encounter a certain intellectual sub class of property owner who use the term "renter" as a derogatory...

... term.     Can anyone suggest why such people should think they are in any way superior just because they own a property which may well have been paid for from unearned income such as inheritance or even the proceeds of a deceased spouse life policy.

No disrespect to the many people who have purchased property through their own hard work.

Strictly speaking no one “owns” land, with includes buildings on land.  What is owned is an interest in land.  Be it a freehold or a leasehold.  Think about it, if you think you “own” your villa, can you put it in your suitcase when you leave? And the land will be there long after you have gone.

I think you know very well what I meant and are just playing with words to (unsuccessfully) try to make yourself appear clever .

Look it is never a good idea to assume what I know or don't know with regards to your answer. If I'm asked something by an individual even if I don't like the question I will do my level best to explain in detail if necessary. This is not about being clever with words or one upmanship. No! In short I would like you to respond with an honest answer (it's not about right or wrong just opinion) to my question. To simply say "you know what I mean" is not good enough. It's not even an answer. Thank you
