You may do as you choose but allow me to remind you that any of us can catch Covid and have no way of knowing where they caught it. The PCR  is more expensive but provides a definitive result. The Antigen isn’t just as definitive as it. Would you not prefer to be sitting on a flight knowin...

...g that everyone on board was covid free? You have a choice of who you mix with in normal life but sitting in a large enclosed vehicle is another story. You will find that a PCR test will be the test required. we are all “advised” not to travel but people like you and myself want to visit our Spanish homes and decide to ignore the advice given. That being the case, we are now obliged to take tests in order to gain entry into our country of residence so as to keep ourselves free from covid and our fellow man. The bottom line is, we have to dig into our pockets and pay for our decision to travel. We travelled to our house  at the beginning of July and returned home 2 weeks ago. It was worth every penny spent to do what we both really had our hearts set on. We loved every minute of the time spent in Spain.

Granny rose.

I don't believe a lecture is helpful. And the PCR is not 100% accurate. Get off your soapbox. Your comments are very proactive and I suppose you wanted to load a gun and see the response.

John,

my post has absolutely nothing to do about the points you mention above. The poster, supposedly a immunologist, had said that Antigen test were more reliable than PCR, that it was better to catch covid naturally and that covid was the same as catching the common cold. All of ...

...which are wrong.

My post was questioning those statements. Please read my post again and tell me exactly how you think the statements I made defend the UK government, or anyone else for that matter.

Aitch.

Ok then Aitch you have never criticized this government in the past ,despite their many failings ,we had a run in with government organisation today at dunkirk ferry Terminal  ,I explained we had  been in Spain since 24 May and were not able to show vaccination status because of the Scottish government emphasis on paper ,I showed that I had ordered day 2 test as we had been double vaccinated  bit the chap in the booth would not accept  that ,he phoned borderforce and their response  was a day 2 and day 8 tests ,over my dead body, i thought .I phoned the mp at Scottish government  and her secretary did try and help but to no avail ,my wife suggested  we phone.the doctors surgery where a diligent female was able to email our vaccination status ,date of etc to me and we were.allowed to board.the.ferry with little.time to spare  ,once again a government  plan put into action without any thought

So it is the SNP, Sturgeons rules that cocked up your travel plans and not our Boris.

Now that's food for thought.

And with all the threads on here telling people what documents you need to have to travel, especially having proof, written or digital of being double vaccinated you chose to ignore it. Did you really think that border force would believe you by telling them verbally that you had been double vaccinated, that's a bit nieve of you.

With a bit of thought you could have had it emailed to you before you started your journey then you wouldn't have had problems and putting the blame on the British government.

I love my wife and family, I do like the Tories but I am entitled to like them just as you are entitled to hate them, but you can’t keep blaming them for your nieve mistakes.

Oh I do think of myself and I take responsibility for my actions unlike some people who like to think themselves as victims and blame others.

Boris doesn’t rule my life, I do, but we have to have order in the world don’t you think?,  no matter what political affiliation we have.

If you go back to Spain here’s some advice make sure you have all the necessary documents with you to get there and return to your home country, then you’ll have no cause to complain. Keep safe.

John,

sounds like you had a tough time at the border, that's not nice.

Anyhow I'll say again my post has nothing to do with supporting the government, or not. I can only assume you have misread what I wrote.

Aitch.

Morning  ,unlike yourself I dont have a crystal ball, we are returning in October  ,maybe you can do me a favour and tell me what restrictions  etc will be in place at that time ,I think the rules are a mish mash ,not my fault that  the locator form is a joke ,having to get tests for this and that ,car travel was forced on us after having 5 different flights cancelled  ,what with overnight stays both ways and petrol  being sky high thanks to greedy capitalists  ,its certainly not a cost.effective exercise
