Have been in Spain now for just over two weeks . Have already managed to book our TIE appointments in Alicante. We have managed to get our digital digitised signature so we received our padron via the net . Picking up a used car tomorrow and registering my motorcycle I brought from the UK. Fingers crossed .

Hi,that's good, but not sure that you know you cannot drive on a UK licence if you have your TIECard,we are still awaiting a decision to change our license over to a European one. The other route is to sit a theory and practical with the Spanish driving schools.

At the monument I have 6 months to transfer my licence as I don’t have a TIE. In fact I have just got car insurance with a spainish company . I have read that the deal has been done with licence exchange and it’s just about the spainish system catching up. At the end of the day if you carry your passport and your entry stamp is less then 6 months you have no problem .

Not sure about not being married. The single persons is about €26k also if you have had a property in Spain before Brexit and can prove you have been living there via bank statements cash withdrawals etc you may be ok . Good luck anyway

Hi Steve,
If you and your partner are not planning to work in Spain, you can apply for the Non Lucrative Visa. For the first year's NLV, an individual needs to prove finances of €27,792.96 per annum (based on 2022 IPREM figure), and each family member the sum of €6,948.24, so a total of €34,741.20 for a couple. For the Year 2 and Year 4 visa renewals, which each last 2 years, you'd need to prove double that amount, i.e. €69,483.12 per couple. This is supposed to be "income", but the Spanish consulates in the UK (London, Manchester and Edinburgh) where you make the application can exercise discretion, and there are examples from members posting on this forum stating that a mix of savings and income (which could be interest on investments, pension payments, etc.) has been acceptable.
You do not need to be married to apply as a couple, but you do need to prove your relationship and certainly, as you'll see below, jointly owning a house in Spain and having a joint bank account here, will help.
The simplest way to prove your partnership is with a Cohabitation Agreement:
There are many other forms of documentation that would also satisfy the Spanish immigration authorities, but they can be completely subjective - the officer in charge of evaluating your situation and issuing their decision has the discretion to determine whether or not the evidence you provide is sufficient, so the more you can provide, the better. Anything that demonstrates you and your partner are in a stable relationship of at least one year long - for example:
- Any type of document that proves your relationship, such as a mortgage, rental agreement, joint utility bills, individual bills sent to the same address, joint will, being beneficiaries of a mutual life insurance.
- Joint bank account.
- Having children together.
- Notarised statements from family members who testify that you are a stable couple and confirm how long you have been in a relationship.
- Other evidence, such as photos on social media, communications via email, Whatsapp, etc.
- As you can Iive in Spain for 90 days before applying for residency, a joint Certificado de Empadronamiento ("Padrón") for your Spanish residence.
These examples are by no means exhaustive and, as you can see, there's no definitive proof, hence my comment: the more proof the better.
Kind regards,
Kim
