I understand from the tone of your post that you are very annoyed and if this has transfered to your approach to the clinica when you've contacted them either by phone or in person it may have hindered things.

I've used San Miguel clinica for almost 30 years as we have a holiday home there. As with anywhere you have a mix of staff and different attitudes from them. I speak Spanish but I have seen many people go in and demand attention in their own language. If they can't speak Spanish they need an inte...

...rpreter. It isn't England where everything is sent out in at least 18 languages or an interpreter is free!!

On a few occasions when I've asked if they'd like help the patient has told me "it's private , mind your own business!" so if that's how they approach people not really surprised they don't get anywhere.

Obviously this doesn't apply to you. Having lived in Tarragona for so many years you will no doubt be fluent and be well versed in the Spanish system.

I have only put it so that people will be aware of what the staff at a clinic with a high expat population are up against.

As someone who lives between UK and Spain all I can say is "good luck" coping if you ever come to live in England. I won't say GPs don't exist but David Attenborough has been approached to do a programme on them as they are fast becoming extinct.

Good luck with your health and to everyone out there let's stay safe and be kind.

Excellent reply. Thanks.

The receptionists here have a very poor reputation. Often rude, and very offhand. They will not update my prescription. And I cannot get to have my bloods taken without visiting the Doctor first. Hence the problems we are experiencing. Or even have my ears syringed.

I went to La Mata Salud for an appointment with the doctor.  I took a ticket to wait in line….I had ticket number 49.  The lady at the side of me was ticket number 18 and had already been waiting an hour she said so I went home.  I need bloods taken and a repeat prescription.  I feel like I want to change doctors.  It’s just a good job I don’t go that often.

Exactly my situation. Went along for my 1:15 pm appointment. Arrived 15 minutes early. Seventeen people waiting outside the Doctor surgery. All with the same appointment time....I walked out too...people coughing and sneezing....

Now I am wondering if 'somebody' has seen this thread...phone rang...appointment Monday 8:00am...just hope it isn't cancelled again. Wishing you good luck!!

I need to have a blood test, and my prescription for blood pressure medications renewed. FIVE TIMES NOW, my appointments have been cancelled, and now my wife's was cancelled this morning.

No Doctors available?? All got COVID? Well...that speaks a lot about the efficacy of these jabs being mandated. For SURE, they must have had their vaccinations and boosters...obviously don't work, do they? Equally, they all wear face nappies, as do the patients...so they don't work either....

...

Ironically, there are office staff, and 'lowly' medics available downstairs...

This isn't about Omicron at all, imho. It is all about MONEY.

IT SHOULD NOT REQUIRE A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT, TO RENEW A PRESCRIPTION EXISTING FOR MANY YEARS.

What a bloody shambles. We have been living, and working in Spain for 30 years, and paying for our healthcare here.

But the injections are not supposed to stop you getting the virus, they are to offer you protecttion against getting it so serious that you have to be hospitalised and ventilated!

I have lived here for 16 years and get by with my Spanish speech.   However, whenever I have an appointment with my doctor where discussion is required a Spanish friend accompanies me so that there is no loss of understanding between the languages (she speaks English fluently!).
