On a few occasions when I've asked if they'd like help the patient has told me "it's private , mind your own business!" so if that's how they approach people not really surprised they don't get anywhere.
Obviously this doesn't apply to you. Having lived in Tarragona for so many years you will no doubt be fluent and be well versed in the Spanish system.
I have only put it so that people will be aware of what the staff at a clinic with a high expat population are up against.
As someone who lives between UK and Spain all I can say is "good luck" coping if you ever come to live in England. I won't say GPs don't exist but David Attenborough has been approached to do a programme on them as they are fast becoming extinct.
