Hi my name is Patricia and my husband is Martin we are in the process of buying a villa here, and will be moving out in March 2019. My question is regarding moving, I thought it would be straight forward but it seems we have to declare everything in Spanish, will the international removers help with this? I am a crafter and have a lot of paints including screen printing paints would I be allowed to fetch these, as someone told me you are not allowed paints, but sure if this just household paints?

Hello Patricia, we used Howells and didn´t list one thing. Hubby is a retired plumber and property developer so had lots of stuff he didn´t want to get rid of. We also dragged a trailer over via Eurotunnel and nobody questioned what was in it, although was just clothes etc.

Thank you so much for your quick response, I was getting very worried thinking about trying to mark every container in Spanish and more so regarding the paint as it is specialized and very expensive to replace.

Kind regards Patricia

You´re welcome Patricia, always best to check with your haulage company though, just to be sure.

Can I suggest that you have a look at the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain site as they have answers to many general and bureaucracy queries that you will have.   Also, the N332 site should help with anything to do with driving in Spain.   This site is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people.

Would advise you to double check everything with removers and any govt website. Don’t forget you are getting awfully near to Brexit in March, when EU free passage of goods etc from UK will officially stop. Up until then it has been/will be relatively simple, but international removers may well find themselves saddled with all kinds of red tape in anticipation.

Thank you for your reply, we will be signing contracts on the 8th March, so will be hopefully moving before Brexit ( I do have another name for it brexs..t) so hopefully we will just miss all the red tape, although it still sounds like a mine field, I have just read up on the Spanish Govenment rules.

Thank you for your advice

Kind regards Patricia
