Hi there, myself my partner and two children have just got our rental property full term and we need to get our residency sorted out. We live in San Miguel de Salina and I was just wondering how to get it sorted out. If anyone could help that would be great

Have a look at Jim's Guides using the tab near the top of the Forum Homepage, after reading them if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.

I'm currently updating my residency guide, but can't complete that until the appointments system opens up again. Meantime, just odd questions.

Are you both working here, on a contract, and have each paid three months contributions into social security?

If not, can you both show three months payments into a Spanish bank of €900, or have maintained a balance of €9000, for three months?

Also if not, do you have private health insurance, covering all eventualities, pre-paid for one year?

If you don't meet the above, then you won't qualify for residency.

Hi Jim, so is it 900 Euro each a month or 9000 Euro each for 3 months at this time? As when I was applying for residency early March I was under the impression it was 750 Euro each a month or 7000 Euro each for 3 months, But unfortunately the state of alarm kicked in and all offices were closed. I know Uma has changed information from 7k to 9k since I last looked, so where and why has this happened? Thank you.

"Following on from what John said above, the residency appointments haven't opened up yet"

There have been reports of people getting residence in Alicante during the lockdown.

Hi, it would be good to know more on the reports coming from Alicante?

I'm only repeating amounts I've read recently from reputable sources. €900/€9000 is a big jump, but it's in line with increases in other public indicators like the minimum wage.

As Ray says, the police don't publish their requirements online, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens when they start processing applications again. The only time I've ever heard of the police publishing their requirements was early last year when Elche police station put printed details on a notice board, and at that time they required €7000 per person.

Hi and thank you for your reply, I have been dealing with Uma, and have not heard from get legal since the lockdown, I will also look online myself for appointments, but reading Jim’s post he states he cannot complete his update of residency until the appointment system opens up. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

If you don't meet the above, then you won't qualify for residency.

I have today applied for and was successful in obtaining my residencia status.

Below is what I took along with me. ( I am a retiree and DO NOT have my DWP pension paid into my Spanish bank account).

Current British passport plus Copy of British passport and one passport size photo.

2 x S1 certificates plus copies.

Current padrón.

Note: currently requests for an updated padrón has to be completed online and an email attachment with the updated details is what will be received. My gestor printed my updated padrón in black and white which at first was going to be rejected. The only savour was I had my original in colour from the town hall.

Recommendation: Print in colour.

Bank statements ( produced by the bank with a date stamp ) showing a minimum balance of 9000€ over the past three months.

Note: Bank statements three months end date as close as possible to appointment.

A copy of my NIE number.

Footnote: I received my credit card size residency card at the end of the application process. I would recommend this card to be laminated.

Regards to all, stay safe and good luck with your application.

Tom.
