I have today applied for and was successful in obtaining my residencia status.

Below is what I took along with me. ( I am a retiree and DO NOT have my DWP pension paid into my Spanish bank account).

Current British passport plus Copy of British passport and one passport size photo.

2 x S1 certificates plus copies.

Current padrón.

Note: currently requests for an updated padrón has to be completed online and an email attachment with the updated details is what will be received. My gestor printed my updated padrón in black and white which at first was going to be rejected. The only savour was I had my original in colour from the town hall.

Recommendation: Print in colour.

Bank statements ( produced by the bank with a date stamp ) showing a minimum balance of 9000€ over the past three months.

Note: Bank statements three months end date as close as possible to appointment.

A copy of my NIE number.

Footnote: I received my credit card size residency card at the end of the application process. I would recommend this card to be laminated.

Regards to all, stay safe and good luck with your application.

Tom.

Tomb...I think it's again the rules to laminate the residency card. Please check before you do!!

I think that this is correct, keep the original as it is and you can laminate a copy.

Good advice, that’s the way forward.

Thanks.

Update:

After reading your post, I have been to the Post Room In San Miguel this morning and they have photocopied my original residencia card, made a duplicate which they have wrote ‘copy’ on both sides, laminated the copy, given me a plastic wallet for the original all for 3.5€. How good is that!!

Hi Tom,

Thank you, this is really helpful. Just wondering about the application form EX 18 (I think?) Did you take this with you or had you already submitted it online?

Many thanks

Hi ElleMay.

The appointment itself was made online but the application form was hand written.

I would say, I used a gestor who charged me 85€. If you have any confidence in speaking Spanish it would be money well saved by not using one.(Gestor).

I hope this helps you.

Tom.

You can't submit the EX-18 online.

Just read my guide for what you need to do.

Hi Tom , I just joined the forum   And saw your post in reply to someone else . Did you do all by yourself or used a lawyer ? This is what I posted so you can see what my question was :                  Hi everyone ,

I’m a U.K. national , I purchased an apartment in Costa Blanca with the intention of moving there and becoming a resident  but I’m still working in the U.K. until I retire in April . I have been to the apartment numerous times this year always for about a week /10 days . Do I need to be in Spain continuously for 6 months before I apply for residencia ? I have NIE , digital certificate and Padron , which I obtained myself . I would need the help of a lawyer I guess to try and get residência before Brexit . any suggestions ?  TIA

Thank you Tom

The residencia has changed now to what is known as TIE, if you look at www.getlegalinspain.com this will help you, they can also assist you, please note things are supposed to change from the 31st December 2020. I gained my residencia late august with their help.
