Thanks Jan. Post Brexit, the rule is that if you spend 183 days - more than six months - in a calendar year you are a tax resident. I also have Irish (and therefore EU) citizenship and I got my NIE last August by signing on the Registro de Extranjeros which means I have right to stay permanently. I'm not sure if I really need to sign on for Residencia, but as there is a difference in the tax rates for Residents and non-Residents, perhaps I'll pop in to see Señora Vicen to introduce myself and explain my situation, just to make sure.
