Hi, I am looking for internet providers that provide satellite internet to campo next to sax ....... I am currently using aero max but just wanted some opinions from people who are using other providers as I think the service we have is not the best as we use it for streaming IPTV mostly but always just seems to keep buffering we have tried changing the set box for the IPTV but just seems to do the same 🤷‍♂️🔫

Hi, Afraid i cant help with internet providers however if you drop the video quality to 720p you may not buffer quite as much, an estimate of required download bandwidth required for streaming at different resolutions below, basically the lower the resolution the less speed you would need. Guess it depends what quality you can live with until you get a fast connection.

The figures below will not be exact as it depends which site you are streaming from.

  • 3 Mb/s for viewing standard definition video (480p) on a TV
  • 4 Mb/s for viewing high-def video (720p, 1080p)
  • 5 Mb/s or more for the best 1080p experience.
  • 15 Mb/s for 4K streaming (but 25mb/s is preferred). Also recommended is a 4K Ultra TV

But it is worth noting that most IPTV providers sill (or should) say to you that the lag that is on satellite internet is not ideal for streaming / iptv...and most satellite internet packages are data limited...not ideal if you are using 500meg for a 1 hour programme in SD as you will soon eat up into any data limit...

The above are of course reliable and steady speeds not maximums or notorious 'up to's'!

4g may be a possible solution but finding a provider with the virtually unlimited data which you will need for on demand IPTV might prove both challenging and costly.

Agreed, for info I use Yoigo sim, 30 gig / 32 euro pm. However it really comes down to signal, viewing hours and resolution streamed. Other providers have similar deals

I find 480p acceptable, just.

We use Cableworld in sax, they are doing 30 mbps for 30 euros per month for our internet.  If you want satellite tv we use Base satellite, we googled it and their packages gave us access to Sky tv which was what we wanted for all sports and movie channels.

Our contract says ..up to 30 mbps. I did a speed check today and we are getting 27.9 download and 3.8 upload. We are just outside Salinas in Paraje Boquera campo and this is the best speed we have had in the past 10 years. It does fluctuate at times and if we have any issues they come out quite promptly or explain how to reboot the router (We had an issue when the electric went off). Hope this helps.
