Reading again, I see what you mean.   Apologies.  You would be fined if you do not burn garden waste!!   Fire prevention indeed...

In my Country,  the opposite happens.

Why am I surprised?    For the month of June, Fogueras, every year, 1000s of bonfires, 1000s of liters of water wasted putting out the fires.    It’s going to take some time to change that !!!   Go Greta  🤗

Hello Villas,

With respect to you and your many helpful posts.
20 years ago and until recently as we know,  everyone burned waste in the countryside.   Laws have changed.  People HAVE to understand what is the right thing to do.   We don’t need to write laws.  We need to mak...

...e efforts to listen and act.

   Protect environment.

Sorry Villas I do not understand what you say.   Can you explain?

Maria

Hi Maria, I have no environmental advice I am sorry to say. After seeing the proliferation of log burners here (now stocking up for the winter with olive & almond leña) & remembering UK coal fires in the 50´s, I realise that farmers burn stubble & farmers prune trees, cars burn fossil fuels & aircraft ferry tourists (& to prevent fire prevention control) etc etc. I´m trying to stop smoking, & buy an electric car in the future, But in the moment, i´m sorry, I´ll go with the flow.

Hope helps & with the licence restrictions (as above) as asked.

Thunberg herself has even endorsed the sketch, retweeting the video Thursday with the caption “Hang in there! Help is available.”

V....... with respect

I've tried composting both here and in the UK and we were overrun by rats so we now leave all our garden waste at the Basura as advised by the Ayuntamiento.

Hello Cheryl,

At least your Ayuntamiento is giving advice and perhaps making efforts to recycle. As you know much more needs to be done in areas of conservation and waste management.

How can anyone believe Ayuntamientos who allow and take part in 1000,s of Bonfires to be taking worthwhile measures in prevention of massive environmental problems, let alone flash fires??

You’ve tried and that’s what we all need to continue to do.  For our grandchildren’s sake.

Greta Thunberg goes to Vancouver today.
Hopefully she will come to Alicante before next June!!

Maria

Hello again

Do you know if you just have to take your padron to Sax ayuntamiento or is anything else accepted/required?

Take your padron and NIE. No fee required, the licence is free. I think it lasts for 3 months. On the reverse of the form it tells you what you can burn, when you can burn it, etc.

Thank you, I'll pay them a visit and apply for the padron and then the licence.

I am NOT a fan of Greta. She does not know what she is talking about and is only a mouthpiece for a load of loony environmentalists who are financing her. FACT 1.

Don't you remember that at school we were taught that global warming and cooling cycles are a natural occurrence and have been going on for millions of years? FACT 2. Core samples from the ice caps prove it.

The world has obviously survived because we are here today and another warming cycle is happening.  If we were entering a cooling cycle what would you have to complain about then?  You would be cranking up the heating like the rest of us.

It does not matter one single jot what we humans do, it is going to happen.  So just get on with it.

You may not like bonfires but it is necessary to get rid of cuttings and twigs etc that harbour bugs.  As you live in the city you will not see many bonfires and probably do not know that twigs etc do not compost down and can sit in your compost for years. Believe me, I have seen it.  What would you like us to do with them?

Many will not agree with this summation, but I deal in facts not hysterical supposition put about by people with some sort of axe to grind.  I shall not be changing my views either.

FACT 3.  Don't forget either, that if you buy an electric car you are contributing far more pollution than if you bought a conventional car.

One final thing. Where do you think all the power is going to come from to charge them and don't say solar? There is nowhere near enough capacity and the sun doesn't shine at night when most people will be charging.  So we will need more power stations and all that does is move the source of pollution from one place to another. When you turn on your light tonight remember that much of Spain's generation capacity is nuclear.

I shall enjoy the upcoming discussion.
