Could anyone tell me what Sax is like to live in, would a gay couple be welcomed? The prices seem more reasonable in Sax for properties, is there a reason I am not aware of? Is the crime rate low? Are there large supermarkets within an easy distance such as Mercadona? How long is the journey to Benidorm? sorry to ask so many quesations
Hi John,
Not sure about whether gay couples would be welcome in Sax but certainly hope they would. Sax is a very friendly, prosperous and pretty town with bars, shops, supermarkets, one of which is brand new and fairly large (Consum). My husband and I have a finca in the hills just outside Sax and though I am not sure about crime rate, it always seems safe.
There is a huge Carrefour in Elda (about 10 mins from Sax), also Mercadona, Lidl and Aldi. A large very modern hospital also in Elda.
Property may be cheaper because its inland. Distances are approx:
Alicante airport 35 mins, Alicante 45 mins, Benidorm 1 hour. Nearest nice beaches Santa Pola 45 mins.

Hi I am sure a gay couple will be welcome ,Benidorm is about 1.5 hrs away. If you use toll roads even quicker.
Prices do tend to be cheaper when you go inland for definate.
I don't live there but have been several times, There are super markets there ,Pretrer on the way up to Sax has a big commercial center with all the usual Carrefoure MacDonalds (yuk) etc Cya Bob

...s the journey to Benidorm? sorry to ask so many quesations
Hi we are a gay couple with two adopted children, we have just purchased in Relleu about 30 mins from Benidorm, 18 mins from the beach in La Vila Joiosa, it’s great because it’s 45 mins from Alicante and 1.20 from Valencia so good tonhave two options when looking for flights.
The village has a bus to Benidorm too we haven’t used it yet as we drive but plan to for a drinking trip to Benidorm.
The prices are stupid we have bought an amazing three bed villa with views, it was a bank repossession in pretty good condition apart from needing painting. I’ll post the link as there are still three left for sale on the site (I’m nothing to do with the site or the developer we just did two years of research and visited lots to make sure we would be ok)
The village itself has two smaller supermarkets but we go to Carrefour in Finistrat which is 22 mins away for the big shop. The village has about 5-7 bars and restaurants all welcoming, a bakery which does amazing bread and just has a very upmarket vibe.
The three village police officers live on our development so we couldn’t find any crime reports etc whatso ever and very little graffiti which is something we hate.
Certainly worth a visit we go to our villa for the first time as a family on the 18th December good luck in whatever you decide.
