Fiona S may I ask for your help in clarifying this a bit for me,we intend moving to the Sax area within the next six months with or without an agreement brexit wise. I have a partner and a son of 18,it is my intention to fly back to UK for work I am a truck/coach driver, at least in the first instance. Our plan is to rent for the first 12 months but on sale of our property in UK to buy in the area. would we still need 7000 euro per head in a Spanish bank account ? and would we still be able to pay into an health program or would it have to be a private health provider.

As a none EU citizen in a worse case scenario which we hope will be overturned do you see any problems for me and my family to settle in Spain.

Ok I am sorry I thought you were moving to start a business here or work here, this is where the 7000 came in, if you had a business in the uk then you would have to have the money in your Spanish bank account, if you were starting a business here then the 300 etc a month comes in, but just living here then you will need private medical insurance at least for the first year (paid in full for everyone) after that you can maneuver a little, and show an income into your Spanish bank account, pay slips from the Uk etc. What they are looking for is making sure you and the family are not a burden on the state, you can get an NIE with a rental contract, health insurance and bank/payslips you will also have to get an identity card (finger prints etc) within the next year...... think thats all my mind is on overflow at the moment :)

Taxed at source, you will however have to make a declaration here, and show your income, but you should get someone to do this for you as it is complected and it is usually once a year, particularly as he will be non resident (he is working in the Uk) you I presume will be resident but if you have no income (because your husband earns it in uk) you will have to make a declaration but it will be 0, your worst problem until everyone settles down (thank you brexeters most of whom have never lived abroad or possibly out of their own towns....) sorry little rant there have lived abroad for 35 years and am furious..... will be the Spanish government making changes, when they feel they have milked things to their best advantage they will stop, we just have to wait :)
