Did anybody really think it would be any different?

Little doubt it will be the first of many.

Yes people will have to start taking this virus very very seriously now we are not talking about 2 weeks 2 months but 18 months to 2 years before the world is safe again

And after that time many things will never be the same again we will enter a whole new world with different agenda and direction there will be less emphasis on greed and and more on care and compassion

It is a pity that a killer virus had to be the reason for a wholesale changes which are coming

Was this passed by congress today, he stated the 15 day extension earlier this week but had to be passed by congress today , it would be the correct way forward

Hi Popsy,

The only report I can find on this is from "El País" at 23.40 this evening which says that the PP, Vox and Ciudadanos supported the PSOE government in extending the lockdown to 11 April, but it doesn't say the specific words, "Congress has approved".  No doubt it will be reported in the first edition of tomorrow's papers and on the breakfast news.

Kind regards,

Kim

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

RayD did you also read that the Spanish Army has asked NATO for international assistance to fight corona virus. The Euro Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center ( EADRCC) of NATO received a request from the Ministry of Defences Of Spain for humanitarian assistance.

Reported in EL Pais on Tue 24march. Further lockdown almost guaranteed as we hit peak level this week. " Our country is responding,  but the response needs to be global or it will be not at all".Says finance minister Maria Jesus Montero.

For those deniers out there - this is NOT simply FLU and Denial is not a river in Egypt !😠😈😠

On a second note. 2 people are now allowed in 1 vehicle as long as the second passenger sits in the back of the vehicle at a distance (:unspecified ) to the driver.Published in Euroweekly News 25 March.   Small mercies folks. Cooperation and compliance in this pandemic has its rewards.👏👏👏

As long As we all continue to abide by the rules life might begin to become easier gradually but don't abuse the changes otherwise the police, as they do in spain ( quite rightly imho) crack down hard.

Stay well and healthy everybody and use this precious time to reflect on our lives and our behaviours when we get out of this Pandemonium.

🙏🙋

Just received from US Consulate

U.S. citizens who are residents of Spain, and/or have access to long-term accommodation and the financial means to remain in Spain for an extended period, should consider deferring travel at this time.  Spanish authorities will not count the days spent in Spain during the State of Alarm against the 90-day limit for those who wish to remain.  For more information see:  http://prensa.mitramiss.gob.es/WebPrensa/noticias/inmigracionemigracion/detalle/3751

Hello RayD,

I stand corrected and am most happy to be so by your diligent guidance.  The Euroweekly News was not as concise, only mentioning rigid conditions but not outlaying them.

I hear Cuba have sent 52 doctors to Spain as well as the Chinese contribution of what turns out to be faulty quick test corona virus kits 😠😢  They blame the Spanish  government for choosing an unlicensed supplier 😴😯  The Chinese seem to give with one hand only to take with another because they fail to follow or adhere to regulations. Let's hope our communist Cuban friends don't malfunction either 😃😯.

For official information I look at the N332 sites, either their website or their Facebook page.   Normally they are there to deal with anything to do with driving in Spain as the sites are run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people.   However, during this crisis they are also giving out official information regarding the rules and regulations for that.
