Where did you get this information from. It is not true. You do not have to show a return ticket.

You actually don’t have to understand. You shouldn’t really tell people what they Should think! We don’t Need to decide where we want to live, we already have. 20 years ago. I personally want to live in the U.K. and have our place abroad. We can afford it and do not want to be in the Spanish tax system which is not as generous as the U.K. As for the Brits Flashing the pound notes ,that is a bit ironic as it is mostly pensioners and the Spanish pensioners receive more than the Brits. I also think the younger people who go to Spain to work don’t have much cash to splash as it’s not always easy for them. The only thing I can think of is not so much splash the cash but ,Buy the properties . Most of the pensioners probably had to sell their homes in order to buy anyway and in fact may find it difficult if Spain doesn’t turn out to be the Heaven after all , (when they are in their 90s and need care, to buy again in the U.K. ,). so it may look like the wealthy Brits moved in, but if they only knew.! What has having a friend in the Police got to do with anything?

If they have been under any Radar then its entirely their business. None of yours. So why would you concern your self ? Where is Sunny en. ? Do you mean U.K. ?

This has nothing to do with the unsubstantiated point you made about the requirment to show a return ticket which is false. I am afraid it casts doubt on everything else you are saying.

This may sound harsh but to me the ones that are blowing their trumpet more are the ones that have camped in Spain for years paying little to the UK or Spain doing cash work and sunning it up, now the shit has hit the fan and its all come tumbling down on top of them they are tugging on heart str...

...ings claiming they are being hard done to.... well suck it up buttercup as this day was always around the corner it was only a matter of time before the bombshell dropped.
There are so many people complaining that we have been hard done to, well the majority have spoken and we all now have to walk that road whatever its outcome, I voted to stay although many around me voted to leave I hope I am proved wrong but lets see what will be will be.
Totally agree. Many of my friends living here permanently voted leave.

From the CAB Spain website
"If on a tourist or private visit, you can be asked to provide proof of lodgings, travel itinerary in case of an organised trip, or in case of a visit where you stay with friends, a ‘carta de invitación’ (Invitation letter), and a return ticket.
We recommend those with holiday homes here, to carry a copia simple (simple copy) of the title deeds as proof of lodgings. "

You have taken this out of context. That is in the case of Visa or Period of Stay Extension.

No. I'm pretty sure that you are reading that wrong. The section about a visa extension ended immediately before the section about visiting as a tourist or on a private visit.
More information on entry requirements to Spain is on the gov.uk site https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements
At Spanish border control, you may need to use separate lanes from EU, EEA and Swiss citizens when queueing. Your passport may be stamped on entry and exit. You may also need to:

show a return or onward ticketshow you have enough money for your stay
Don't think I am reading that wrong as all of that content is under the Visa or Period of Stay Extension heading.
I agree that the Gov.UK page says you MAY have to show a return ticket but that is very different to 'having' to as the poster stated. This has been the case for TCN's for many years as Spain/ Schengen are concerned about people entering who do not have the means to exit or support themselves. I think a middle-aged bloke with property in Spain and able to demonstrate money in the bank would not be denied entry on this basis.

Whereas I suspect that they will be equally concerned about people coming to work illegally or to take up residence illegally. A return ticket is one bit of evidence that you are merely there for a holiday (of less than 90 days).
They almost certainly won't be checking everyone, but I am certain that there will be people getting turned away at the border because they only have a one way ticket.
On the other hand, you may be right and the Spanish border agents won't ever play silly beggars with Brits arriving in Spain.
