Been there, done that, twice.

When I got my new Freesat box it only had an HDMI socket so I got an adaptor (digital to analogue)  and it did not work, it only produced vertical coloured lines. Took it to a TV shop and it did the same. So I got another. This produced a B&W pic and no sound.

At that point (after the expletives had subsided) I went back to my old Freesat box with a SCART and I am still on that today.  It is just that I cannot get all the channels since they changed things.

If anyone out there in Forumland knows a D to A converter that actually works please let us know.

Hi Classic man, I have two monitors spare because I now use smart TVs on mine and my wife's computers, one is a Dell 19" for 25 euros and the other is a Viewsonic 24" for 40 euros, both in good working order. I live just outside Albatera so it might be a bit far to come, I could meet you at Brico Depot Crevillente on the N340 if it's any help.

Hi Bustid,

Thanks for the reply and your offer.

Let me check out the recommended shop on my doorstep in Sax and if that fails I will drop you another line.

I can get to Crevillente in about 30 minutes.  Is the Brico still open?  I seem to remember that I read it was closing?

Hello CM, yes Brico is still open, I think Kingfisher still wants to sell it but they don't have any takers, go check out your local shop and if  they have one it's easier for you, just let me know if you still need one.

Go on ebay  (uk) monitors 17 up to 22" ,used but in good working order.

Cheap, even with postage it would give you a reasonable priced package, have seen recently a few dual setups with stands ,you can even get a reconditioned pc + monitor/s.ebay is great, postage times are maybe a few days longer.

All the time I was in Spain, around 20 years, always used ebay and amazon and even in the campo always got my packages.

Hi Movingon

Your warnings were well founded. When I put the monitor on I did get two displays but could not two DIFFERENT displays no matter what I  tried. But these is a solution which takes just a minute or so.

What you are looking to do is EXTEND not split or dual or anything like that.

Press the windows button +P.  Select  EXTEND  and the job's done.

OR

First plug in your second screen.

Select a blank spot on the desktop and right click. Then click Screen Resolution, then change it to Extend then click Apply.

You can change it back the same way.

Good luck.  CM
