There is a website for those with Private Health Insurance to register on to make sure they get the vaccine. If you don't have PHI I would definitely speak to your Doc if at all possible and see if you're on their list or if they can add you.

They'll want to make sure that everyone who wants a vaccination gets one so I'm sure you'll be sorted somehow. ...

...

This might help if you have a Spanish phone number, just came across it

UPDATE RESIDENTS WITH PRIVATE HEALTHCARE EARLY RETIREES. The Comunidad Valenciana have now issued instructions that any legal resident, pre pensioner can present their Residency, uptodate Padron, Spanish contact number and request a "No. de SIP sin cobertura y privados". This gives them a number only. They will be contacted AT THE TIME OF THEIR AGE GROUP to attend for their vaccine. They may however have to pay a fee for the nurse to administer the injection. Not for the vaccine. This instruction only went out last Wednesday. People should at least wait till nearer the time of their age group to register. At the moment we are just finishing 90+ If when you go you have any problem please ask to speak with the 'Responsable' of your centre first to clarify. This is a mandate from "Conselleria'. SOME CENTRES MAY HAVE A SET ADMINISTRATIVE TIME SO PLEASE RESPECT THIS. If you continue with problems then advise which centre and it will be queried for you. [email protected]

There are - or were - 2 reasons for having a temporary SIP.

The first reason is that some Medical Centres gave them out to people who shouldn't have had one. Some of these have run out and now being rejected. I'm not suggesting in any way that's what's happened here!

The second reason is that when your S1 is registered at INSS, you take the paperwork to your Centro Medico and are issued with a temporary SIP. You then return approximately 4 weeks later to collect your permanent one.

When you take your SIP back to renew it they might reject it until you have your TIE, hopefully not. Worst case scenario is you would pay full price for medication meantime.

Fingers crossed you get sorted, would you update us when you've been in?

Steve

If you have an ehic and have to go to a medical centre you are issued a temporary sip,( cardboard) valid for 6 months so that you can access the spanish system.Once resident you go with the S1 form and get transferred onto the Spanish system ,the form once stamped and signed off by the Spanish authorities  puts you into the system and a copy is given to you,you take this to your local health centre and they will issue a plastic sip card,no expiry date and you are good to go.( the costs are all picked up by the UK nhs).

The problem is that neither of us are working or receive a pension so we are not eligible for the S1 form even though we are both residents.

You're posting incorrect and misleading information again.

A Centro Medico will no longer issue a SIP card against an EHIC

Afternoon, I attended a facebook "Brits in Spain" livecast and the suggestion from the panel to questions about how those; below retirement age, with private health provision, locked out of the convenio especial for the first year, was that this group should look to their private health providers who are in dialogue with necessary Spanish govt department.

Whilst I accept that when we speak to our PHI companies they say currently "we know nothing" it does seem as if we will be added to "the list" by virtue of our private provision.

I've heard reports before now that being on the padron was necessary to being "on the list" I'm sure the truth will out it's just frustrating waiting for the void to be filled.

Yes, I think renewing would be a very good idea. I presume current up to date SIP cards are the way they know someone is in the system. I certainly wouldn't risk being passed over because they think you're no longer accessing the health system.

If you are renewing SIP card you need a padron certificate under 3 months old

.....

There's also a dedicated site for those with only PHI to register for the Vax, I'll try to find it
