Hi everybody,

I am currently looking for home insurance for my home in the campo.

I have had one quote but judging by past posts, it seems I have been quoted a higher amount. Can anyone suggest a reasonable insurance agency?

Thanks.

My insurances are with Liberty Seguros who have proved excellent over the last 4 years. I did them through a broker up here called Jennifer Cunningham in Javea. They are a British company with several offices on the Costa Blanca and would not need a house visit inspection to arrange your cover.

Thank you Steve,

I am in contact with them at the moment but was just looking for alternatives as I see a lot of people have mentioned paying a little less than what I have been quoted by them.

I expect I will go with them as people seem to recommend them, as indeed you have.

Thank you again.

Hi Janice, yes, it may be that slightly cheaper options are available and my experience of this forum is that some Brits will shop around to save a few euros annually. But...the acid test is what happens when you have to make a claim and sometimes a few euros saved on a home premium comes home to roost as a bad decision when a company tries to mitigate the claim, is slow to react, or wants to find a way not to pay.

You won't have that problem if you go through Cunningham and one reason is that Liberty get so much business through Cunningham that they would not want to lose that business through an ongoing pattern of claim disputes.

I've made two claims on the 4 policies I have with them, admittedly small claims, but they have been great both times.

Kind regards, Steve

That’s what I wanted to hear! Thanks a lot for your helpful advice.

I will definitely go with Jennifer Cunningham.

Cheers!

Hi Janice,

I agree with Steve.  We've had all our insurances through Jennifer Cunningham for the last 4 years, both cars and our combined buildings/contents cover are with Liberty Seguros.  We've had to make claims on both car policies; also, a water leak claim on our home insurance.  We've had an excellent response from Liberty for each claim, no issues at all.

For comparison, I obtain comparable quotes with Linea Directa and Sabadell Bank every year - both have been much more expensive than Liberty Seguros.

Kind regards

Kim

I can also say that Liberty are extremely good, although we don’t use J Cunningham.

Earlier this year, the house belonging to my mother (she is now in a Residencia) had a flood in one of the bathrooms, which involved all the usual hassle, compounded by the fact that the house is unoccupied. The agent whom we use dealt with Liberty on our behalf, and short of a small deduction on our claim, paid promptly and without problems, without having to bother my mother at all. We have also had to make small claims on our own property, again, this was dealt with promptly and efficiently with no caveats.

Thank you Stephanie.

This is very reassuring.

Thank you everybody who gave me advice on my home Insurance.

I have chosen Jennifer Cunningham and am very happy with the excellent information and flexibility they have come up with.

Thank you again, another worry taken off my mind!!!
