Hi everyone,

I have a friend who has laminated very good copies of his and his wife's TIE cards which he carries around with him rather than the originals which he keeps safe in the house. Unfortunately he cannot remember where he got them done.

My questions are:

a:  Are they allowed

b:  Suggestions on where or who offers this service

I'm sure many ladies are aware of what I am describing but having only just discovered it I want to share it with anyone who may not know. On the CB we living in an area where water hardness is about 437 parts per million. This is very high and really calls for a water softener. However, these are not cheap to buy or run but without one clothes, especially towels become like cardboard. 

A short while ago I was talking to someone who had retired to Spain and had been a senior manager with Proctor and Gamble. He told my wife than in areas of hard water, adding half a cup or so of white vinegar to the wash and reducing the amount of detergent and conditioner, would result in towels and clothes which were once again soft to the touch and smelt fresh. 

We tried this and were amazed at just how effective it was. Towels soft as when first purchased. It was wonderful. We were also told that many people work on the basis of if two caps of detergent are good then three caps are better. Same with conditioner. Not so. It is quite often possible to reduce the quantity of both detergent and conditioner by one half and obtain results as good - if not better. It makes rinsing easier and clothes don't suffer build up of detergent which is so common. 

As an aside, I have just returned from the UK having visited for the first time in 23 years. I can't believe how things have deteriorated. I don't speak the language and find it offensive to have to pay £6 for a pint and £13.50 for fish and chips.

I don't use this forum often, in fact in 23 years I think I have used it about 4 times. However, this usage has been quite recent and I would like to thank all those who responded to my requests for assistance. In the case of the request for Television info this had two or three good responses including the one from David who solved all problems. 

I won't go into the others its not really newsworthy but I did want to say thanks. I had no idea that forums worked.
