Idly perusing the UK government advice on all things Brexit, and particularly returning to UK (I'm not BTW! ), this caught my eye:

Tell the UK and Spanish authorities if you are returning to the UK permanently. To help prove you are now living in the UK, you must deregister with your:

local town hall (padrón

the Spanish National Police (Residencia

your local health centre

I can see attending to the first item easily enough but "deregistering" residencia and health care, how does one even go about that and are there even any mechanisms for communicating any of the three acts back to UK, let alone in any sort of timely manner.

In the real world is any of it even actually necessary?

Adhering the government advice strictly if "deregistering" residencia is anything remotely resembling acquiring it and requiries an appointment then those wishing to return might have to hang about, possibly for months, in order to compete the task.

It would be interesting to get feedback from some of those who have returned as to their experiences in getting back into the system.

BTW the sentence in the advice which says "To  help prove you are now living in the UK, you must deregister with your:" is poorly written because if it's only to 'help prove' then it ought to say 'should' deregister and not 'must'

They're all easy to do. Do a baja del padrón at the town hall, do an EX-!8 ticking the relevant box, do a baja at INSS.

What GOV.UK have missed is de-registering for resident tax with Agencia Tributaria.

A friend did all this a few months ago when he and his wife moved back to the UK.
