spain seems to be mostly anti hrt.Are there any private clinics that do not have a problem providing it.My wife never had a problem getting it in the uk but the doctors here in albatera tend to suggest a change of diet and lifestyle.Obviously they have not suffered the terrible effects that the menopause leaves you with.Any advice would be most welcome.

HRT medication is available to buy over-the-counter in Spain. When there were shortages in the UK, people travelled to Spain to stock up.  If your wife is familiar with the brand she was prescribed in the UK you could ask for it in your local pharmacy if they don't stock that brand you can ask for an alternative.

Quite a number of doctors who work in the public health centres in Spain also work in the private clinics therefore you may come across the same problem but you can only ask.

Hi.

This is a very sweeping statement. I have lived in Spain for many years and Spain is not against HRT. At a time when, for reasons best known to the NHS, it was not available in England, it was readily available here in Spain.

You can buy a wide variety of HRT over the counter, if you know the brand you are looking for. Be careful here, as a brand may have a different name from one country to another. Best to take the packet to the pharmacy.

With regard to lifestyle changes I can't comment, each to their own!

Cheers, J

Yes, HRT is available over the counter in Spain.   My wife's UK doctor took her off it and she literally went back to day one with her menopause. Life was not good.
We have no problem getting an equivalent here and she is now fine.

That's interesting,I agree with first poster Spain is definitely anti hrt I've had oopherectomy and hysterectomy and I was on it before so I definitely now need it I can get progynova here which is same as mine ellestte solo but it's 30 euro a month! I've been ordering it in UK and getting it brought over but it's not a permanent solution I absolutely couldn't live without it!

Hi I was prescribed HRT only a few month ago. But this was only when I insisted that I was seen by a gynaecologist. After the first visit a prescription was in place and I felt so much better. I have a S1 so only pay 89cents for 5 weeks. I hope your wife gets it sorted 🤞🙏😎

Having seen and lived with and without HRT I know what a difference taking it can make. The mood swings were incredibly difficult to live with.  Good luck.
